How to create invisible wall that block bullets?

(FreakyG) #1

Hi, I try to create a maze with water as walls.
I copyd all my maze and paset in the same place, then made the texture “clipfull” so you cant walk through the water.
Thats worked perfectly, exept that you can shoot through the walls :X

I tryd more kind of clips like “clip”, “clipshot” and “clipweap_wood” and no one of them blocks bullets…
What can i do?

A picture of the maze:

Thanks.

The clipweap texture (and clipweap_wood, etc) should block bullets. Are you sure you recompiled your map after updating the textures? Are you sure you weren’t accidently playing an older version?

(Note that they block bullets AND players, as far as I know you cannot have a shader that blocks bullets but not players, but I believe you don’t need that right?)

cant ya do it with teleport… only lets ppl trough not other stuff…

ok i tryed the clipweap_wood again and thats worked, the problem was that i didnt put that around the walls but inside the walls

but… isnt another way to make water act like normal wall? my friend told me he remeber somthing about “solid”…
anyone?

Erm, you shouldn’t be putting clip brushes if you got walls… Assuming the walls have normal textures they will be solid by default and you will not be able to shoot through them.

Water textures however should be non-solid so if you want to stop bullets from passing through water you do need to clip the water. Normal textures however, you don’t!

in his first post he said the walls are made of water, but couldn’t you just solve this problem by editing the shader of the water?

it sometimes only seems that bullets are not blocked. Try
g_debugbullets 1
Put clipweap texture.
Q: Why does it seem to look like clips are not blocking bullets?
A: Because in a shader there’s a key nomarks
