LOL, He saying that you should use the old .menu as a reference point. I’m sure all you need to know is in there.

i agree, and i tryed. I would like to use a jpeg image as background, without any mask… but is not easy to change :<
What exactly is causing you the problem? Why can you not change it easily?
Please, don’t get me wrong here, I’m gonna help you out a bunch even though it may seem like I’m doing nothing (we gonna make you do it all yourself so you get used to it, but everyone here will lead you the right direction).
Most times, problems are not problems… or atleast not such a problem as it may seem. Keep it simple. That’s the number one way to overcome the problem.
====================
EDIT:
Ok, to give you atleast something though. Let’s go with the easiest way to solve the problem (may not be best, but most straightforward).
What we have:
What we want:
We have a jpeg, so just open that in Photshop (or macromedia or w/e) and save it as a tga file. Prob;em is now halfway solved, and easily. The only reason we save it as targa is to just keep this straightforward, we will be basically duplicating what we allready had in the old global menu.
So, now, all we have left to do is remove the background mask. What is the only way to get rid of text? Delete it
So go ahead and just delete the entire menu entry for the mask, and call it done.
On that note, the second biggest “problem” for people is just not doing things, or being scared to do some things. So, just keep it simple and just try it out and see what happens, and most the time, you will be well on your way to success with what you want to accomplish (life lesson too, really).
@ elite, well, i tryed to look at global.menu of domination mod, et,q3 and urt, because its not soo easy… in et, i cant find what is the background image name. i tryed some, but if i rename to .jpeg (in global.menu) i get a yellow box, if i keep it tga, i still get a yellow box , and its not fullscreen. i will try again tomorrow.
Look at the shaders, you probably will need to edit it.
You will notice though, that in the global.menu there are entries for backgrounds… you should be able to just pick the one that self-describes itself as the one you want to get rid of. If it’s not in there, it’s just a shader, so just search your files in the scripts directory for a shader that has the filename as the one you want to replace, and just edit it to fit your needs. If it’s just a case of a shader, it will have 2 stages (atleast), just delete the stage that is acting as a background mask.
