How to call an effect?

To begin with… yes I used search. And google, and dogpile, and my brain and Radiant.

JKA has an entity called fx_runner which basically tells it to use an effect file and point it either up or at an entity like info_notnull, similar to the target_smoke entity.

but in this case, I want to use a custom effect file… and search through everywhere I found no ET equivilent to this useful entity!

The effect in question is a lightbeam created by a fellow mapper on map-craft that I would like to port over for use in ET but I can’t find a way to use it… thanks!

Not sure what you want to achieve.
Didn’t get it right.
Do you have a link may be.
Or a picture (may be selfdrawn) what you want to achieve.

Is this for some kind of particle effect? If so, W:ET doesn’t support them by default.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! yes that is exactly it!

-------------------------------- <-- long beep of swearing. Ah well, maybe there is a way to hijack smoke entity to use custom particle effects?

The only way I know is to add it to the game by coding.

I know a coder named Unique1 who once coded support for some kind of particle systems in the FalckonET mod. I never saw it in action though…
