How strong is each merc?

So I would like to know how strong each merc is, or better lets say, what is his/her “Strenght” rating given by community.

Anyways, what I would like you to do is…

  1. Write yours 3 most played mercs from profile (or 3 mercs you have in squad)
  2. Write the merc you hate being killed by, the most.

And lastly:

  1. Rate all the mercs from 4 - 10 (4 being the weakest/most un-viable, and for 10 the strongest)

I don’t know if ‘OP’ is the right wording for a post like this. Maybe just straight up 0-10 bad to good. I don’t now. 11 could be OP. haha.

My most played mercs are in order, Proxy, Sawbonez, and Redeye (he has more kills than Sawbonez though).

I hate being killed by Rhino + Aura marriage and any airstrikes (which I seem to be a magnet for).

Arty - 9 on EV maps, 7 elsewhere
Aura -9
Bushwacker -8
Fletcher -9
Fragger - 9
Kira - 8
Nader -8
Phantom - 5
Phoenix - 7
Proxy - 7
Redeye - 8
Rhino - 10 with Aura, 6 otherwise
Sawbonez - 9
Skyhammer - 8
Sparks - 7
Stoker - 9
Thunder - 4
Vassili - 90 percent of the time 4, when used properly 8

Yeah true, but I consider 10 OP as in the strongest :stuck_out_tongue:
Also I didn’t add 0, 1, 2 and 3 cause it is ridicoulus that one merc is 1 and one is 10… It would give fairly wrong picture (e.g. Thunder 1, while Fletcher is 10 - it seems to reader like Thunder is 10x weaker than Fletcher…)
Anyways I am gonna change OP to strong than. :slight_smile:

I’m gonna give every merc a 7. To use as a comparison, BF4 has long ranged, short ranged, and jack-of-all-trades weapons, the long ranged ones will always perform well at range but suck at cqc. Short ranged weapons will always perform well at cqc but suck at range. And the jack-of-all-trades weapons will always perform decent at both but you could always choose a better one depending on how you play. That’s how the mercs in this game work, each one is better suited to different roles and have different play styles that when teams compensate for their weaknesses for each merc they become unstoppable. Such as a Aura on defense with a Rhino is a massive danger, add a Bushwhacker and you have a very strong defense. Nader, Phoenix, and Stoker will perform amazing in CQC maps and sticking together. You see what I mean? The fact that every merc has different play style allows nice variety, and if you want the most balanced merc in Firesupport class? Skybro. You want the most balanced one in medic? Sawbonez. You want the most balanced recon? Redeye. You want the most balanced engineer? I dunno, I think Turtle fills that role. That’s my opinion on the mercs in this game and overall the balance is decently nice.

Why 4 -10? Why not 1-6, or 1-10? Why would 4 be the starting point?

Most played? None, I actually set it to random with each game, swapping if I get two of the same role and then change their loadouts accordingly.

Hate dying to? None.

I’m going to rate them from 1 to 5.

Arty - 4 out of 5, Mainly because underground could be a bit more open also Failsafe on long range artillery guy makes no sense, especially when it’s put twice on Dreiss loadouts.

Aura - 4 out of 5, Not my cup of tea, but she does what she does well, sadly too many loadouts don’t give her good augments and some aren’t even working.

Bushwacker - 5 out of 5, a fine alternative to Proxy.

Fletcher - 10 out of 5, his stickies need some delay on them so they explode after sticking to a surface or enemy and actually be used as booby traps rather than airbursting them.

Fragger - 5 out of 5, Good all around Assault.

Kira - 5 out of 5, because Kawaii.

Nader - 3 out of 5, her grenades teleporting to her when she’s down is just weird, also martyrdom really could be applied only when she has one grenade left.

Phantom - 0 out of 5, IF one needs to ask why…
The nerf on melee heavy attack turn speed wasn’t necessary if SD wanted to nerf the Katana’s heavy attacks alone, which SD did by decreasing it’s attack frames and range.

Phantom’s health wasn’t that much of an issue so it being nerf made no sense, especially since his movement speed wasn’t buffed.

Damage that was greater than what the cloak could take going into his health makes perfect sense, but that also begs the question as to why SD also decreased his cloak’s duration, which also means he has less shielding.

Phantom was given a “Buff” in the form of him still being cloaked while detected, which makes no sense as one of his main drawbacks was that when spotted by another recon his Refractive Armor would deactivate.

Finally, Visiblity and Audability went through the roof.

Phoenix - 3 out of 5, good weaponry and an interesting healing mechanic, personal gripe is that his self revive could be faster and healing pulse could have a faster recharge.

Proxy - 5 out of 5, Solid merc.

Redeye - 5 out of 5, Solid merc for both spotting and “sniping”

Rhino - 3 out of 5, Very medic dependant, more so than other mercs especially as a front line defender/attacker. could use a buff on walking speed with his minigun spinning, being the same as with it not spinning, but maybe with the drawback that he can’t sprint with it equiped.

Sawbonez - 5 out of 5, Solid all around medic, better than all of them if you ask me.

Skyhammer - 5 out of 5, Solid all around fire support, really high risk/reward with his airstrike, with at least some use indoors unlike Kira and Arty, but that’s obviously Stoker’s Forte.

Sparks - 4 out of 5, someone really needs to look into her loadouts, even with her nerfs she’s still good, just not godlike, which makes sense.

Stoker - 5 out of 5, a lot of ways to counter his powerful ability with a long-ish length, personal gripe is I wish there would be a blue ammo indicator for teammates where I’ve left my ammo station at all times, same goes with Kira.

Thunder - 1 out of 5, Mk46 needs more damage and concussion grenades either need to lock player’s mouse control or they blinding needs to actually needs to remove all form of visual/audio feedback that they’re hitting enemies (Health bars, hit indicators, etc.) along with a massive debuff to weapon spread and locking out aiming down sights.

Vassili - 1 out of 5, Too many nerfs to sniper rifles even if he’s a merc I don’t use often, he changes to these were too much at some point.
He’s only a 1 and not a 0 because at least there isn’t a “hold x to hold breath” and a scope sway/bobbing while standing still. even with the buff to health, his mobility is still that of a 100 health merc which is the only thing that was consistent with every merc, except Phantom after his merc and now Vassili.

Its the same if I did 1 - 7, but one merc having 7 points, and other 1 would give impression that one merc is seven times stronger than other, while in 4 - 10, maximum difference is 2.5 times stronger (that’s not how it is counted though, it’s just impression), also I didn’t want people rate like if a merc (like thunder or arty) is underpowered, they give him 1 point no matter what… If 4 is starting point, it gives people more to think about who is stronger… not giving 1 to arty and 1 to thunder in instant…
