How much would you pay for a female char DLC?

He made an ignorant point from a lack of experience, which in, and of itself, is perfectly fine.

Then I made an indisputable point from experience, while he made a stupid point from incredibly faulty logic, and in the face of someone more experienced.

Trying to proportionally shove a female character’s geometry around to fit a rig that’s far too broad in some areas is going to cause really weird bending during certain animations, say, when a character throws a grenade. The shoulder’s verts might become squished all the way towards the armpit. Sure enough, even though, as I type this, I’m rigging a character with 3 layers of clothes on, people will still argue that “oh, it’s just a matter of math.”

i got an idea!

how about you remodel up a female character…you know, to prove how damn difficult it truly is and win the argument…

…and when you’re done, send that chit to SD and have them offer it DLC for the rest of us!

you win argument.
SD saves time and money.
SD makes a crap load of money selling DLC.
We get our ass kickin’ hotties.

everyone wins!

except chamber…except he still does

(Nail) #165

I doubt he has a motion capture studio, but if you check his sig, he has the rest of the requirements

(chamber666) #166

ludden…after looking at your online portfolio i have decided you have no authority to lecture ANYONE about human anatomy and proportion

(SphereCow) #167

No one needs to prove how difficult it is. Just try it yourself. It’s far more complicated than it was 15 years ago with the necessity of high poly modeling skills, baking normal maps, creating specular maps, rigging, and first of all, having concept art to work off of.

Also, I need friggin exporters. : /

Says the guy that has no idea that you can’t “move things around” and get a female character to work on a male rig.

Yeah, you know what you’re talking about.

i was clowning :frowning: sorry lol.

(SphereCow) #169

No, it’s a pretty good idea, but I doubt we’ll get exporters, for some reason. : O

I could build one if I had an extra 1500. : /

(scub) #170

no, probably it means 99% of gamers are males and we don’t need females in the game… if there were that many females playing the vote outcome would be different.

(SphereCow) #171

Why do people insist on pulling numbers out of their ass? It says absolutely NOTHING about the demographics.

(Norb) #172

Its probly means most people dont really care and if it was free probly would download it but because its not in already are just playing the game as it is and getting on with it without moanin they want to run around as an animated woman with fake bouncy boobs.

(ataliba) #173

If I don’t want to pay for it, doesn’t mean that I don’t want it…

(Norb) #174

Yeah thats my point, people would take it if it was free but probly most people dont care about it

(Senyin) #175

Those are people who want female models for the wrong reasons aka
attentionwhores and sad horny dudes.
But you’re right, there is always something to complain about.

You know what ? I feel guilty now ,
cause i dug up that carcass ._.[/QUOTE]

Dont feel guilty, you have a valid point .

Maybe during the war females were evacuated maybe? Anyroad i would liek to see females, i do not care for games that dont have it like crysis, im impartial to the masculinity there, but in a game that boasts so many customization options, i feel it mandatory that it has girls. also im a Aspiring game developer, gimme SDK and il see what i can whip up.

(Nail) #179

you don’t need a SDK to make models, Blender will do just fine, animations on the other hand…

(iezza) #180

ooh goodie, opening blender now, blender has inbuild animation maker and texture/Uv mapper. although i fail at textures.

(SphereCow) #181

Need it to get models in game + figure out scale + get an exporter. : O

(McAfee) #182

Maybe get the ball rolling in blender?

Specs:

  • 1 Light female model fitting the brink style. strongly suggest looking at the female posters in game
  • 1 set of clothes based on the existing clothes offerings in the game.

Go! :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit:
It would be considered a 3d concept model.
