How much would you pay for a female char DLC?

If a Girl can do the same things as a man , and we shurely can do , why shouldn´t we be allowed to sign up for combat ? For infantry ? For Artilery ? For the special forces ? Makes just no sense to me Ö_ô
And regarding the survey , well 25% may not be the majority , but it´s a start . And in a game where customisation is an aspect of the marketing , there deffinitely is a need for Girls
Ok , so here´s a screen  I think , she´s beautifull

what do you think ?
She’s pwetty.
Although the male “large” isnt “fat” per se. he still has a six pack, and i bet hes actually much healthier than the light body.
Well , it´s actually some kind of police instead of a real army , and women are in the army and police , so it would make sense
And in modern armies , like the israeli army or various others there are women at the frontlines .
But nvm .
Lydia, I sympathize with you and your desire to play as your gender. But after adding female characters, the next thing you’ll know will be most players playing as female chars. You might not understand how many horny young males there are around here. And characters of actual females will be instantly recognizable because they will be the clotched ones.

You say there are women in police and army(in some countries at least). Would it look believable to you if 70% of Security and 70% of Resistance were female ?

Careful here :-). I heard in some countries a girl joining military is required to, among other things, being capable of carrying a fellow soldier several dozen meters (as if carrying a wounded soldier to safety). And guess what - they rightfully assume that the default soldier is a male soldier. So if you can carry your boyfriend several dozen meters, then yes you can join military :stuck_out_tongue:

(Lydia) #104

hum , somehow you are right with that

But in that case i hope there will be a solution
And for those hordes of horny Nerds i can say one thing : This is Brink , not Porn .
Fact . OK , sex sells , but i think there is just no point in it if there are only girls Ö_ô

Hm , i could carry my Girlfriend , but she´s lightweight as i am
Is a bag of cement acceptable too for 14 years ?

If Splash Damage pay any attention to what the public wants, female chars will be one of first additions. The request surfaces too often to miss. Splash Damage could take the easy and quasi-realistic route and add only light and medium (or even just light) female chars.

As for the woman from the screenshot: she looks like a giraffe. Proportions are just wrong.

(Lydia) #106

Well , there shurely will be haters , but i think there is enough request and feedback  I think light and medium are ok , but heavy is a bit off D:

Well , all Chars from Brink look a bit strange , but i like that style
Its just a girl in Brink-proportions ;D

Women are just no where near as physically capable as men. Here in Denmark, women can join the infantry, but they have much easier physical requirements, which I honestly think is BS. You trust your life to the capabilities of the guy next to you - but if its a woman, she’s probably at a performance level where a man would get discharged.

A few women who train very hard and dedicated are able to meet the minimum requirements for male soldiers, and they’re welcome in my book. And of course, pilots and tank commanders and whatnot have no reason to demand male level strength from female applicants.

The discussion about women in combat have mostly been about whether they should be allowed in on lower requirements than men, because without that relaxation hardly anyone could make it.

AFAIK the Danish special forces have the same requirements for men and women, which effectively is the same as no women. An application process designed to physically stress very fit men to the extreme is unpassable by women, bar some genetic mutation.

I sort of like it, the males have very exagerated features too.

my solution;

farm it out.

amateur modders, college students, whatever. give them access to some dev tools and some oversight from the art team and pay $1000 bucks or call it an internship and offer course credit or just something nice for the resume and you could have the whole thing done in 3-4 weeks for under 20k. release it as a DLC pack, charge 10 bucks and its pure profit after 2000 downloads. thats less than 1% of the game’s pre-order numbers and judging by the topic’s activity on this and other forums, its a pretty safe bet it will make money.

even if they had one body type and roughly the same amount of customization options the current game offers, i’d still plunk down 10 bucks for it just for the sake of variety.

it doesn’t matter if you’re looking at the issue as a military enthusiast, a feminist or misogynist, or even a game development standpoint. if you look at it as a business prospect, using this route, it makes good money and it makes good sense.

i just wish the devs read this **** and were at least interactive with the forums here, if this hasn’t occurred to them yet SD’s operations manager should be looking for a new job

(Lydia) #110

@ Chamber : /sign . I am honest , there´s not much to add to that .
They will  I´m very shure

(Nail) #111

it’s all very well to have wants, but there is a practical part as well, how many of these single character DLCs would be required to cover the approx $600,000 - $1,000,000 cost ?

plus the fact they have already stated a character add would not be availible in DLC

chamber666, how many people here have access to a motion capture studio ?
No it’s not. I can easily picture a heavy Brink female, she looks kick ass!
And yes, males (most of them) will always be physically stronger then females.
There is no doubt about that and I completely agree with Smokeskin on everything.
Ofcourse it has nothing to do with the game and people who use this argument must really be against female models. (not you Smokeskin)
To be honest, a battlefield filled with female models would annoy me too.
Mainly because I rather hear and see males, especially hear. I want to hear sexy male voices while I play.

dude, the motion capture animation is already done. how big of a difference do you think there is between men and women running, jumping, shooting and reloading a gun…and even if there is, do you even think you’re going to notice while you’re running, jumping, shooting and reloading???

your figures pulled out of your ass are astronomical compared to the figures pulled out of my ass because my model doesn’t unnecessarily start from scratch on everything. 80% of everything you need is already done. why on earth would you pay to do it all over again??

for someone claiming to be preaching from the pulpit of practicality…you aren’t very practical

(Smokeskin) #114

I think this is what everyone fears, isn’t it?

(Lydia) #115

what is this i don´t even xD
Good thing you can´t dance in Brink

(Norb) #116

Votes are really showing SD that puttin a female DLC out is going to make them alot of money isnt it haha

(Dopaminergic) #117

More than anything it shows that people are cheap and/or poor.

(DarkangelUK) #118

Or that not many people actually care enough about it apart from a vocal few.

(Smokeskin) #119

Haven’t Brink already sold over 500,000 copies? If these figures are representative, that’s over 100,000 DLC sales.

I totally agree with you, and anyone else saying heavy woman would be fat and ugly, its not true, Just make tham have bigger features the heavy in brink isnt fat, he has a 6 pack, it would just be expanding all the light and mediums features.
