How much would you pay for a female char DLC?

(engiebenjy) #21

I have nothing against women characters being in brink but there are bigger issues that would need to be addressed first (bugs and lag etc). Also if there was a choice say between a new parkour challenge map and new costumes/character models I would have to choose the map.

(H3LLS1) #22

buy a plane ticket to San Antonio Texas  we got plenty!

(Lydia) #23

@ engie : No need to hurry . I´d say gameplay and bugs first , but latern , Girls would be nice too

@ H3lls : lolwut XD

(wolfnemesis75) #24

I will only pay for Maps.

(yoomazir) #25

who cooks the food and wash the clothes in the Brink Universe hmmmm? thought so, now back to the kitchen woman and start working on those potatoes cuz I’m hungry!

walks away in macho style

(Norb) #26

san antonio is like the 4 time champ for holding the title of “fattest city in america” hahahahha what can i say? we have great mexican food.

(Senyin) #28

Nothing! I’m happy with the models we got now. Probably would end up with stupid stereotype big boobed slutsRus models anyway. That’s even a bigger insult (to female gamers) then the absence of female models all together.
On the other hand, SD does have some balls so the chance of ‘normal’ female models would not be unlikely

(H3LLS1) #29

i will say this: coming from L4D…which has a decent female following because of the game play and characters…having a strong group of female players is a GOOD thing. The girls usualy bring some good play AND awesome smack talk hahahahah

(Lydia) #30

Holy smoke XD
Well , we have great food from all around the world , but i´m still very thin
Sport is the key

but BTT: Maybe , if we give it time and enough feedback that it´s wanted .
But i personally think it´s unlikely :< And that´s a sad thing :S

Honestly, I don’t understand why people make such a fuss about it, it’s not like you have conversations with people within the game world, you shoot them in the face.
Maybe for Brink 2 or whatever, but for now it should just be adding maps and tweaking the game-play, not pointless aesthetic tweaks that have zero effect on how a game plays out. You can’t even see your character 90% of the time in game for gods sake.

Recently played Fallout:NV and I made a female character, I enjoyed the different dialogue options,
Killing Benny within 10 hours by screwing him then strangling him in his sleep was fantastic.

But in the land of Brink, what difference does it make? Maybe since I’m a guy, I just don’t ‘get’ it.
I wouldn’t pay jack for female skins since they are pointless, all it will mean is loads of fat nerdy guys playing female lights while rubbing one out or something anyway.
Maps, and maybe another game-type, that’s what the DLC should be. Perhaps another AR since the selection is anemic for them.
No, it would mean taking time away from other DLC for the sake of a minority.

Not to mention women fighting on the front-lines is a rarity, most modern armies don’t let women fight in the infantry for various reasons, not to mention the are too valuable.

I would rather them add them in the next game with a reason why they have joined the fight.
The female drill sargeant in my boot camp (not exactly familiar with foreign term, sorry) was a pretty beast and fitter and stronger than most of us.

Last december was an “arctic race” TV show with a german and austria team. 3male+1female per team. They walked 400km to the southpole with 24h blinding daylight and temps of about -40°. The austrian team beat the germans by 46hours. The Austrians had a female elite soldier (Jagdkommando) which did a lot better then the male soldier of the other team.

2 women have jobs, 4 work at home. Won’t be seeing this as a DLC as it won’t make them any money.

So you really believe that only people with jobs buy games? Lol

How do you think people doing a household are buying their stuff? Yes, right money!

My ex-girl is a Staff Sargent in the Air Force…and just got back from a 8 month tour in Iraq where she spent a good protion of her time dodging mortors and random Iraqi gun fire. try telling HER she wasn’t in a war zone. pffft.

(Herandar) #34

Sigh. This is like the fourth time I’ve posted Aneta Florczyk’s picture in response to a female heavy statement on this forum.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #35

the game is about a civil war in a dying society… we don’t let weman into direct combat NOW, why the hell would the people of Ark? Explain to me why this question keeps coming up, lol, there’s no females because it goes against the nature of the game(period … spelled for the dramatic effect…)

(Nail) #36

A better question might be, what is the cost of said DLC to produce

(H3LLS1) #37

Women put their lives on the line to protect our country as well as men. On the “front lines”? Not always. But part of war efforts? For sure. And isn’t this game less about full on infantry fighting and embraces supporting roles as well?

(xzen) #38

and would it actually improve gameplay/replayability compared to some of the desperately needed fixes/features

 1. Who’s this ‘we’? As already stated by someone else, women serve in armies all over the world. In some, notably Israel, they are even frontline troops. If I was leading the resistance or the security on the Ark, I’d want everyone I could for the fight, men and women. This is a civil war - things couldn’t be more intense and bloody, and any commander who’d deprive themselves of 50% of their available troops would be an idiot.

 2. The question keeps coming up because some people like to play specific genders, just like people like to play specific types of people within those genders. No, it’s not imperative, but in a game with such heavy emphasis on customisation and characterisation, about role-playing, it’s not unreasonable for people to want male and female characters available. This isn’t even about female gamers wanting to play female characters - I’m a guy and play women when I get the chance, but I know plenty of girls who prefer to play men in their games. The point is that the option would be nice.

 3. What do you mean it goes against the nature of the game? Brink is a team-based FPS about a floating city engaged in civil war. I fail to see how female characters can fit into that. If you’re making the point that women don’t fit in shooters, then cast your mind over all the female characters we’ve got within the genre. Shepherd from Mass Effect is the most obvious one, but Bishop from R6: Vegas 2 also springs to mind. Both are frontline fighters, so why couldn’t female characters fit in Brink?

I remember an article on Kotaku a while back that actually dealt with this exact topic. The guys at Splash Damage said that they didn’t want to have female characters because [a] It’d mean a whole lot more work for them. They listed having to create a different set of animations for female movement, body and face types, and all the customisation available to the male characters. And [b] They said that the female characters would have had to be shorter too, which would cause imbalance in the game.

I call bull**** at the time and I think with good reason. Again, look at ME - the animations for Male Shep and Fem Shep aren’t any different. To be fair, this can lead to a bit of sloppy animation at times, like when both Shepherd’s sit in the same way and it looks kind of off, but by and large the lack of different animations isn’t a problem for anyone.

I don’t actually see a need for different sets of animations at all anyway. Women and men don’t walk that differently in real life, and if a bunch of men and women trained and fought together they’d probably all end up moving similarly anyway. Why isn’t it an issue that the security and resistance movement is the same? The security are a trained police-force, the resistance are a bunch of freedom fighters. You only have to look at the recent stuff in Libya to see the difference in how armies and resistance fighters move. Obviously, no-one has complained about that, because to do so would be being overly picky, but the same argument applies to the movement of men and women.

Likewise, the height issue as regards to balance - why not just make everyone, male and female, the same height? Worked fine for characters in RE:V2, why not here? I guess we’d end up with some women that seemed a bit taller than average, but it’s not like the height of any of the male characters in Brink differs. Even changing body type doesn’t make you any taller. Why not just make women of the same size?

Customisation is what it comes down to, I could fairly see this being a time-eater. It’s probably the reason we’re not going to see female characters in Brink, although I think it’s a shame. I’d be happy to pay for a pack which had them in - why not? I’d be happy to pay for other DLC, why not this? Have a customisation pack, with a load of new looks for existing male characters, and the introduction of female characters too. £10 sounds okay for something like that.

I heard Brink has nutshots (shot to balls) but I dont know if they do anymore damage than normal chest shots. If they would do more damage then adding women would cause similar situation like in Combat Arms (total crap game) where everyone play women to avoid getting 1shot nutshotted.

Secondly, would women fit in Brink? Hell no, I would quit if they added women into this brutal battlefield.
