i’d rather use it in a faq called “how to go offtopic in a forum thread … using tapirs”
How many players will ET:QW suppoer?
I am gravely concerned by SDs silence on the subject of diminutive multispectral equines in this thread :nag:
Kind of Aardvarky?! They look cute in the photos, but I wouldn’t want them in me house, no sirree!
Player support, I agree with Joe999 that sometimes the big servers are ok for a while, for a bit of pure stress relief. But the best ET I’ve ever had was in smaller teams like 6v6 and even as low as 3v3, the gameplay and class balances are the best in those games. Quake Wars, it sounds like the teams & maps are scalable & can cater to all tastes, which should keep everybody happy. I think SD know the diversity of their audience & won’t disappoint.
Can I get a free copy now? :moo:
It seems as though Sky One and Vic Reeves have picked up on the current interest in Tapir’s (influenced by Splash Damage methinks); tonight, 11th Sept, a program titled “Last Chance to Save . . .” goes out that is dedicated to our beloved Tapir!!
But if you can’t wait that long then there’s always http://groups.msn.com/tapirfanclub
rofl. i stepped through the pics and came to one called “Zimba’s Manhood”. looks like another BIG thing Wils could add to the pwning characteristics of tapirs
Total war please as many players as the software and hardware can support.
500 player 3 way battles in planetside were awesome.
150 player Joint Ops is great.
64 player Battlefield is a bit sparse.
I’m not into little clan matches or competative play I’m looking for that war feeling. Existing on a batttlefield as part of an army trying to bring order out of chaos, maybe organising a little expedition or combined arms strike, or just lone wolfing around in the carnage trying to find a spot to be effective in.
What cut Enemy Teritory out from all the rest in my eyes was the strong mission basis of the games. I hope to see this repeated in the new game.
I also hope however, that some maps are not simple win lose games, but instead like Planetside designed to bve an endless conflict. fighting for fighting’s sake.
Mission goals are such that the closer you get to the enemies base, the stronger he gets and vice-versa.
I’d also like to see the inclusion of non respawn and limited respawn missions/gametype. Mobile respawn trucks like in Planetside and Soldner bring a new tactical element also.
No respawn games bring an entirely different pace to the game. 90% stealth and movement, 10% action. Dead people chatting to each other while they wait for the round to end, is a great way to socialy interact, in a way that is missing from all respawn games, where players only have time to type minimal grunts between shots. Low profile play is a lot of fun, it’s not about kills, it’s about survival. If you can complete your object too, all the better.
I didn’t really enjoy the ET xp system. I thought it was weak since it penalised noobs. Uber leet dude who reallydidn’t need any extra advantage because he plays all day and knows all the maps, is given an extra edge to make noob killin even quibker, easier and more demoralising.
I prefer the Planetside system where Xps can be exchanged for different weapon, armour and vehicle certificates. The more Xps you have, the more vehicles you can use. But once inside any particular vehicle, you just another driver, same as all the others.
If planetside already exists and is such a great game, why get something else (et) and transform into it? It’s like saying “well my wife is okey, but if she had the same head, hair, hands, eyes, mouth, face, arms, torso, legs, waist, brain, stomach, and feet that my ex-wife had, she’d be perfect”. I don’t get it.
Quake3 source is available by now. You can easily create a mod which supports 100, 200 or even 500 players.
I wonder if ET:QW will have a hardcoded limit for the server size.
I used too work at a zoo and the tapir keepers were very proud to proclaim that their male tapir was able to tickle his own chin without assistance :eek2:
unfortunately this did not make him a sexy beast in the eyes of the lady tapirs, and so for procreational purposes this poor individual was sedated and subjected to a horrible process referred to as electroejaculation
I never went near the tapir enclosure again.
*crosses legs.
That’s sad and disturbing news,au.Hiroshima>…
But one great new weapon for the Strogg!
No, sorry, forget I said that.
