yes there was, it showed the mercs equipment (passive abilities) and you got to choose from 5 different mercs; a single merc of each archetype. This is before they decided to go with the three man squads. I’m sure there are a few screenshots floating around of it, I know @nail posted one with Aimee a bit a go.
