How levels really affect players.

(briefPecan) #1

Some clear patterns can be seen in levels relating to player behavior. Would be cool to hear your versions.

0-10: Everything that kills you is noob merc and noob ability. Teams always suck. Teabag and GG EZ fagit always when possible.

11-20: Some of the things that kill you are noob mercs and noob abilities. Also teams suck always when losing. Rare teabags and gg ezzes.

21-30: Some mercs and abilities might be tad overpowered, not screaming about it on chat. Teams might be shitty, but you wont spam chat about it, might give pointers. No post game drama, possible tips to better game, occasional GG WP and acknowledgement of enemy teams achievements.

30+ Zen mode. Whatever, just play.

I’ve seen multiple lvl 30+ guys dragging lowbie teams with a quadruple score to the #2 of their team and no words uttered. On the other hand it’s almost certain that an under lvl 10 player with sub par scores will scream team sucks or gg ez rekt scrubs in a right (wrong) situation.

lvl 10+ servers are very chill as people know how to generally play and don’t frustrate team mates with not playing their mercs role.

Depends on the person, met some really interesting people with low level accounts that barely started playing. As time drags on and people keep playing you tend to get used to other people’s toxic behavior.

(briefPecan) #3

Definitely people will vary with their actions, have very recent 30+ guy who is topping the most toxic player charts in my experiences.

Not really. I just can’t stop myself from offering some helpful tips and observations like:

 • “guys we need more snipers”
 • “no worries Skybro I don’t like using my primary anyway”
 • “thanks Proxy for sprinting ahead to be a meatshield for my Fragger!”
 • “yeah Aura good idea to attack them with your shotgun from 30m away instead of reviving me”

This, together with:
“There was a fricken tutorial when you started playing, I suggest going through that again and again until you realise what you’re doing wrong.”
“This game is sooper simple guys, you see an icon, you do what it wants you to do by running to it, and pressing F. Try it sometimes!”
“That is concrete. It is gray, solid, and won’t allow you to pass through it. Please follow along the concrete until there is no more concrete. Thank you.”
“Hey guys, let’s keep taking turns and running in one by one like a PEZ dispenser for the enemy team, if we keep trying, it will surely work!”

(blonk) #8

0-10: Either unaware of how to drop ammo and medkits or are just plain uncooperative. Also contains blatant smurfs/hackers wrecking everything without remorse

11-20: When people start to tune in and stop ironsighting shotguns. Generally useful and aware of what an objective is. The teen years are pretty OK

21-30: Where it all starts to go downhill. Berating the team for using ironsights on shotguns, playing Vasilly, not being in the same postcode as the objective and shouting as loud as possible about how crap the team is and how they always get such crappy matchmaking all the while acting superior. Vote shuffle unlocked

30+: Pretty much the same as the above, with more shuffling and stubborn merc choices

50+: Mostly people who are either too fantastic to care about teams or are so salty they are barely palatable at all. The point of no return, you’re now Dirty on the brain

The passive aggressive level is canadian  This is a good, funny way to nudge team mates into right direction.

I can attest to all of these. Some days I am just carrying with not a care in the world and other days the salt flows freely and I just need to vent my frustration at THAT ONE ENGINEER YESTERDAY WHO LOST US THE GAME BY NEVER DEFUSING YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE YOU WERE ABOVE LEVEL 10 YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR NEVER BEING EVEN REMOTELY NEAR THE C4

(SereneFlight) #11

Pretty much this… fuck it, It’s my turn to just have fun and derp as Phantom or something <3
…until of course somebody goes full retard in chat and tries to kick people who are far more useful than they are.
…but when lvl 10+ medic is being shit, I bloody well tell them to wake up.

(PurpleHippo) #12

You forgot the sarcastic fucks (such as myself) who just play and make fun of my teams horribly bad attempts of doing the objective even after i killed 4-5 out of 6 from the enemy team.

(blisteringOwlNest) #13

Eh, I’m 26 now and I see a good variety of nice 1-10 and toxic 30+

Toxic good players are the worst, as you just know they have a massive ego. But I’ve been in servers were people actually ask for tips!!! one guy I was wrecking with fletcher asked how I did it nicely, so I gave him some pointers and recommended using the blish, which he had but wasn’t using.

Honestly, the only reason I think higher levels are more nice is because they take it a bit more seriously, and enjoy more challenge as opposed to freaking out over losing.

30+ Zen mode
My epiphany on the way there was unbinding the chat keys.

(Haki) #15

I feel like min10 servers are far more toxic than regular ones, since more people know the button for the chat.

(Amerika) #16

Min Level 10 servers, in my experience, have been by far the most toxic servers I’ve ever been on. Most people who go to them just want a consistent and decent game with people who at least know the basics even if they aren’t really better than the random pubber. However, it also attracts a lot of people with egos and when their egos get shattered they get salty…really really salty.

I’ll be extremely glad when we not only get the queue system for regular servers (that will also hopefully balance based on skill when doing casual MM) but also community servers. Community servers will eliminate most of the trolling/super salty and still bad players since they will be removed by an admin/vote kicked pretty quickly. Then we can all go back to killing each other like civilized people.

(Nesodos) #17

seems like i was already lvl 21-30 when i started…

it always amuses me when people get really salty and toxic just because their team is losing
i always say “its just a game guys, calm down and start playing better instead of crying around”

its also a lot safer when they are not standing around in the open while writing some mind diarrhea, got me some sweet moa headshots

Here is the thing, most “toxic” people are the only ones that are actually decent in the particular game and all the “lel guissse itze onli itz gamz!” are the shitter who don’t even know how to locate their own dick.

(Yoma) #19

Well might be correct with some tweaks but as always there are exceptions.

A day or two ago i had an awesome match of underground stopwatch where first my team spawncamped them, then i voted shuffle, didnt pass. Then after another mins shuffle passed and after the shuffle 2 player (one 32 and one 59) switched teams like instantly so thy got the totally superior team once again and can spawncamp for the rest of the game aswell. Naturally with all kind of epicness like 2 Turrets at exit of spawn, 2 Vassillis who shoot you once you come around the corner, mines somewhere and medics to make sure you neevr run out of health. As an extra they teabagged whenever they managed to bring down one with just outnumbering him by atleast 2 ppl.

In execution today there was an level 81 who was just standing at spawn to sit out his missions. All he did was telling that he isnt to blame that hes afk because he has missions to do.

Its less about the levels regarding attitude, its more of a personal matter. If a person just manages to take the worst possible option of what to do in a given situation is an different matter… .

PS:
Here is the thing, most “toxic” people are the only ones that are actually decent in the particular game and all the “lel guissse itze onli itz gamz!” are the @$!# who don’t even know how to locate their own dick.
Yes and no, many people tend to be toxic because they got nothing else to do while kissing the floor.

(ImSploosh) #20

Min level 10 servers are often filled with clueless people. It’s mostly the medics, but also the Skyhammers. They still don’t know how to drop health packs or ammo. Or even worse, how to charge their Defibs. Then, even when they don’t charge them, they don’t drop a health pack or have a health station up and running so I can’t heal.

Noobs will always be noobs.
