How exactly moving to further spawns works?

In Underground and Terminal we have that part of the map, when - after blowing up the first objective - your respawn point may move for the last time. But I still don’t get how it’s working.

Let’s take Underground as an example. Attackers blew up the fan controls, and their spawn moved right next to its remains. We were pressing them at the bottom of escalators for about a minute, but then, suddenly they didn’t come at us, not even one. They respawned below second escalators, in their final spawn, and just went for the second objective

It’s the same in Terminal - how many times were you defending building behind the wall only to find yourself fighting newly respawned enemy team with spawnprotection, because their spawn moved there without any reason?

Can someone explain to me the mechanics behind this?

There is a set number of spawns for some locations.

I think as an attacker on underground your 3rd spawn wave will spawn next to the elevators after 2 spawns next to the first objective.

This is done to negate the attackers momentum after they did objective and to give the defenders a chance to set up some kind of an answer and win some time.

It’s either by moving far enough or by completing an objective I think. In the case of Underground, if someone manage to go far enough, everyone will spawn closer to the second objective.

I suspect that Underground actually had an objective where you had to blow the access to the pump controls in an older version.

I thought it was on a timer? After the objective is completed, I’m sure someone once told me the defenders spawn doesn’t move for another 40 or 60 seconds.

Will test it out tonight.

Nope! I once also thought that was the case, but this video proves it’s not:

@Beryl Consider that you have alternative set of spawns for the defenders as well.

For instance the few spawns in front of the last objective on underground (next to the side generator window) and few on terminal before the escalator and the containers for last objective.

I believe on trainyard it swaps after 2 attacker spawn waves, underground it’s 3 attacker spawns waves. I could be wrong though

It’s on a 60 second timer from when the previous objective got done.

What should I see on that video ?

That they still spawned forward, even though he had the C4 planted.

(doxjq) #11

Yeah I just played a 2v2 objective match on Underground and I was attacking. It definitely isn’t a set amount of spawn waves because the defenders spawned right next to the C4 area when I was trying to plant at least 6 or 7 times (the spawn wave was only 4 seconds long since it was a 2v2)

Pretty sure it’s just on a timer as previously mentioned.

(Runeforce) #12

And as you can see in Beryl’s video, the timer is not 40 seconds, since they spawned in forward 48 seconds after getting the first objective blown.

Yeah I dunno what the time was just someone else mentioned it to me a while ago. Originally I thought it was one minute but then I thought I remembered it being less than a minute.

There’s an odd bug going on with the spawns on Chapel at the moment from time to time. I had this about 3 months ago and again yesterday, where the attacking team gets the EV about 5 metres away from the delivery point but their spawn moves right up to where you deliver the EV even though it hasn’t been delivered yet.

It’s really frustrating when you’re all sitting on the EV trying to stop them repairing it and they spawn right next to it with their little bit of invulnerability haha.
