How Does Everyone Feels About Red Eye?

Since Red Eye was released a month ago and he hasn’t been complained about to much, I was wondering how people were feeling about him.

Under rated imo

The Granduer could be a little more consistent with the hipfire, and the maximum spread could be reduced.

But he’s very solid, very underplayed imo.

What Watsyurdeal said. That spotting thing is amazing. If you have good “sniper aim” he can be a decent killer too.

Grandeur feels borderline OP at times. Will be interesting when the devs buff it due to all the complaints

A solid merc. Not OP, but he’s definitely useful. In the final of DBNation’s invite cup Redeye was used, so he’s definitely got a niche that makes him somewhat viable for competitive, unlike Phantom.

I got all of the best loadouts of him in Bronze with the primary and melee weapons and complimentary augments. The Grandeur SR can use more rate of fire for that recoil though.

I hate him because of players not knowing how to use the smoke grenade or his thermal vision. But a few weeks ago, someone told me how he works with Objective Specialists and combat support like Bushwhacker, Proxy, Arty, SkyHammer or even Phantom. It’s the player I hate because they’re sub level n00bs and it’s hard to make them learn merc team synergy.

He is easily bottom tier IMO, his ability is very mediocre, and he has the worst weapons in the game, and on top of that he is slow and offers no ammo, no health, no objective skill, and has crap loadout cards. The fact there is no omg redeye is OP threads, tells you the truth. He is very weak. If he was even average there would be at least some people saying he is OP (normal bell distribution), like all the other mercs. Instead you have only people defending him.

He’s pretty balanced, and there are opportunities to use him, so no changes are needed. He just isn’t a real teamplayer, with the smoke obviously obscuring vision for everyone. It is useful for blocking flanks, unless you get rushed by a Proxy or something.
His spotting is insane tho. Really useful.

He feels pretty good overall, definitely not op, but not up either. The grandeur has quite a learning curve but is amazing when you get the hang of it. His abilities are amazing for teamplay, the smoke is great cover for your team if placed decently covering your team as they complete objectives or advance to better positions around it.

There are a few bugs I cant wait for them to fix, like seeing hp bars through smoke and only one small explosive is currently needed to remove the smoke. I think he may only have 8 secs of functional IR since there’s an activation cost of about 2 secs I believe. So if Im not mistaken it would be nice if they increased the total charge to 12s worth since only 10 would be usable and the total IR time would equal the duration of the smoke.

Even though redeye isnt that weak or op, I think increasing his smoke screen radius a little and some changes to his secondary weapon and definitely to his augment choices would be nice. The deagle and caulden feel too close to his primaries, having high spread from the hip but good damage and rate of fire, think it would be better to have other types of secondaries to compliment his primaries better. Also, none of his augments really enchance how he plays like how explodydendron helps explosive users or get up/extra supplies for medics (on a side note would be nice if they changed extra ammo that fire supports get to “stockpile” and allow you to carry 1 extra med pack for medics). Possibly make undercover extend redeye’s smoke duration as well or atleast add a perk that does. Maybe another augment to increase spotted duration on targets marked by IR. Basically things that enchance his abilities or his playstyle more, instead of the random stuff currently on his loadouts.

He’s very situational. I do feel as if the recoil from his battle rifle is a bit high compared to other guns like Vasilli’s sniper rifle.

I think one of the things that could definetely be changed is the sight on the grandeur.

Hell I feel like sights in general would be a nice tweak to Dirty Bomb. I get hipfire is the point of the game but…if aiming down sight is an option then clearly hipfire isn’t the only thing you should be doing.

I feel like at least an augment that slaps a Red Dot sight onto your gun would be nice. The sights on the Grandeur aren’t bad…but they are awkward and lining up your shots while under fire is a pain.

well I am normally shite with him so everybody else must be too. I propose we five him unlimited smoke grenades with no cooldown and infinite duration on his sight ability.
(he is fine IMHO but very situational)

I tried him out for the free rotation, and I liked him overall. The grandeur is fun to use and a little easy once you get used to it. If we had 4 merc slots I’d definitely use him more often xP
