How do you play Brink?

(Zarel) #1

“Humans seldom want to adapt to their environment, instead they’re on an endless chase on forcing the environment to adapt to them…”
-The God’s Must Be Crazy(Really. :P)-

I often see complaint threads(powerful this, powerful that, omg unfair everywhere) and I wonder why it’s not such a bother to me. Honestly, I don’t get it. Most often they sound like they’re gonna bomb SD’s office if they don’t do anything about it, fascinating individuals.

And…

Almost every thread there are always at least two points fighting for two(or more) different idea. And I think it’s difficult for them to accept each other’s point of view because of the unseen fact that, maybe, that guy, is playing [Brink] differently than the other guy does. Hehe, I find it very much entertaining to see how much we are like on the story of the game; "There are no “good guys” nor “bad guys” only different points of view. no matter how “right” their idea may be, at the end of the day, the other folks still strongly disagrees to it.

I suddenly thought it would be a good idea, for people to answer this question;

“How do you play Brink?”

Simple, answer that question as honestly, and as detailed(I welcome tl;dr!) AS possible. I find it an interesting question for folks to answer, to see how there could be some variations on playstyles, weapon preferences, combat approaches, so on and so forth. And I think this way, it would be great to be cleared or be understood on why do one finds “carb-9’s strength to be too much”? Or how much one guy fear such thing as “grenade shooting”.

If you can’t answer the question above, as is, then here, let me give some basic guides. Some basic thoughts you may want to answer;

-Favorite body type and why…
-Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why…
-Favorite weapon add ons and why…
-Favorite class and why…
-Favorite abilities and why…
-Preferred combat tactics(example; crouched-shooter, how often you aim down the sights, an avid grenade shooter or rather use underslung grenades, loves holding down the fire and the move button, etc…)
-Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?..
And those are just some basic thoughts, you may add more information in your playstyle/preferences if you may, and I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE it! The why’s are very important too, since it could give detailed info on…well, why you like this weapon, that combat tactic, or those maps/body types and such.

I don’t know for you guys, but honestly, I’m no psychic. I don’t go into a thread and quickly judge folks based on what I saw, and I have no right to. I really think THIS type of query (provided with honest, detailed answers)would be a good start for people to have and understanding on just why, why these folks just can’t get over each other’s differences.

I’ll let myself be an example then;

Being a pure single/botmatch player, not being pressured by peers or egos, or any other things sorrounding online play, I’m very much open for various experimentations. In short, I play Brink to have fun. Unlike most folks, I often jump back and forth into the heavy and the medium body type. I can see the benefits of the light body type, which is agility, but I admit to myself, i’m not very good at it.

Though I tend to jump around with all of the different weapons in a match, most often, my preference are these weapons; For the medium built, I go with the Rhett AR and the Galactic SMG. And for the heavy built, The Maximus MG and the Euston AR. The common add-ons I use are the front-grip and the duct-taped mag.

My preferred class is the soldier, i’m comfortable with it’s simplicity and it’s equal emphasis on combat and team-aid. My preferred abilities are additional pips, sprint reload, resupply rate increase, and battle hardened on universal abilities. For the soldier abilities, scavenge, extra mag, armor piercing and kevlar vest, any excessive points is spent on some other stuff but those mentioned are my preferred abilities.

For combat tactics, as I habited myself from counter-strike, I give emphasis on accuracy than movement. Whenever possible, I stop, crouch and aim down the sights. Also, I’m very strict with controlled-fire. So yeah, I’m not a very good lone player. Often, I only use the grenades to take down enemy turrets. And for a soldier, I very rarely use the molotovs and the flashbombs. I also rely more on suppression than kills, if the guy hides, then fine, I only get my kills if the guy’s stubborn enough not to hide.

I’m comfortable with my combat style for I’m more comfortable with supportive role. I often stick to teammates, get to cover as quick as possible, and not fond of staying put and holding off an area alone. Whenever possible, I retreat to find some teammates to stick to. And being a soldier, I often look at my teammate’s ammo stats, setting the one with the lowest ammo as priority.

I’d rather help out than get the most kills in a match. Also, I don’t mind in winning and losing much, I got my fair share of points from supporting anyways.

Hope this helps, I’d like to hear how the other’s play this game. Maybe it would clear up on why they loath some(or most) of the game’s concept too much.

–Favorite body type and why–

Medium because the underslang grenade launcher.

–Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why–

Euston for close combat because its fast shooting and as an smg but the recoild on it its crazy.
Gerund for longer distances because in burst fire its pretty acurate and can kill a enemy real fast at distance.
For secondary I use the kross and the the carb because the bigger extended drum magazine to spray.

–Favorite weapon add ons and why–

Underslung grenade launcher to knock enemys down then spray them with some bullets.
The biggest bullet magazine avaible for that gun.
The stabibility fron grip
Why meh isnt that obvious :stuck_out_tongue:

–Favorite class and why–

Favorite class I would say engeneer because you have more defensive arsenal like mines and an sg. But I also enjoy playng as medic because you feel like your helping your teammates.

–Favorite abilities and why–

I wont descrive every ability, but the last chance / the extra pips /silent walking/ that one where you sense when enemys are shooting at you its kinda a must. Then I have a combo of medic and engeneer class specific because those are the main classes of the game.

–Preferred combat tactics-- (example; crouched-shooter, how often you aim down the sights, an avid grenade shooter or rather use underslung grenades, loves holding down the fire and the move button, etc…)

Trow a underslung grenade then spray the enemy when hes on the ground ftw, spray with Smgs close distance, burst fire with Ars long distances, Try not to engage enemy when my health is low, to be a team player and play whatever needeed class even if I have 0 abilities on that class, try to flank the enemy when theres a cluster of spam. Etc

–Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?–

I personally if im defending I tryed to kill as much enemys I can but also helping my team ofc, when im attacking if spot a enemy that doesnt sees me I wont go kill him ill let him alone and just try to go to the objetive. But in the end what matters the most is getting the objectives done and the killing not so much, but ofc the killing is the fun factor in every FPS.

(ManateeMaster) #5

–Favorite body type and why–

Heavy, because there are few of them, i like to have more hp, i dont like smgs, i dont like to rush and i like to be able to play with a shotgun and a rifle. (and i dont mind to play the underdog archtype because some day it will be patched or not, who cares ^^)

–Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why–

Gerund for long range and Mossington (or since patch Hjammerdiem) for cq

–Favorite weapon add ons and why–

Gerund:
muzzle flash
front grip
Reddot sight

Shotgun:
Speedsling

–Favorite class and why–

Soldier
I just love the sound when the molotov explodes don´t know why ^^

–Favorite abilities and why–

flashbang = good when attacking
satchel charge = good when defending

–Preferred combat tactics–

grenade shooting + shotgun = lame but priceless xD

staying in the back and taking out enemies via mid/longrange to make the way clear for the faster light bodies

–Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?–

well you cannot really give out very much help as a soldier, i mean the few times someone needs ammo isnt really worth it to create a playstyle around it so mostly killing : )

(Zarel) #6

@Je T´aime

Ah, I see you’re a defensive type. I find it interesting that for a defensive type, your attack style is very(VERY) aggressive.

@ManateeMaster

underdog indeed.
I take it you emphasize a little more on the kills. Fit for a soldier.

(Jamieson) #7

Body type: Medium - Allows a decent backup for when I can’t use my sniper rifle.
Primary: Barnett Light Rifle /mussle break/speed sling/COGA scope/
Secondary: Carb-9 /mussle break/front grip/drum mag/d-flex red dot.

Why?
With the weapon buff the Sniper rifle can kill people in 1 shot. I tend to play very aggressively and with my aim I can usually do a lot of damage with the sniper rifle. I use the Carb-9 as a backup for when people get to close and there is no chance to CQC with the sniper.

Class: Depends really, if we have a lot of soldiers and they are giving ammo or if I am near a command post I will go engineer so I can give myself the improved weapon buff and lay down turrets and mines etc and buff the team. Otherwise I usually go soldier to keep myself stocked up on ammo and the molotov + Snipe them while their down is a good CQC tactic.

Combat tactics: With sniping I like to push up and control areas, it really annoys me when you see snipers sitting back because they are wasting so much potential. I often observe the battlefield then scope in on specific targets or if Im controlling a choke point I leave my scope ready for when an enemy appears for the headshot.

As for when sniping is not ideal I will use my Carb-9, I hardly ever scope at all. usually crouch to help control spread against unaware targets and strafe when in a firefight.

What matters most? As a sniper my job is to kill and to be effective. Since I wont be with the team all the time my ability to buff is limited so I want to make up for it in kills. Often while sniping you can control the battle and I often end up with most kills. Another priority is denying the other team sniper superiority so counter sniping is a also vital.

A very cool tactic/role to read, a sniper/counter-sniper.

See, this is turning out fun so far. I’m actually limited to only two combat tactics, so great to read that there are others who approach this game in such varied playstyles.

(Stormchild) #9

Body type: Mostly Medium and Heavy, and a little Light sometimes. Because Medium has a good range of weapon choices and mobility, Heavy because some heavy weapons are now useful, and the extra HP helped me many times as I slided to cover after a snipeshot.
Primary:
When Medium : Gerund or Rhett. Usually with red-dot, duct-taped ammo, muzzle break.
When Heavy : EZ nade or Gotlung/Chinzor depending on map. Small corridors call for gotlung swipefest.
Secondary: Kross or Snipe, depending on map. Large areas will see snipes come in so using snipe to counter them can be useful. Map with chances of close quarter surprise encounter mean Kross. Usually kross is customized with large clip or duct-taped, muzzlebreak, speedsling and adjusted ironsight. I want it to come out fast if needed, and to reload fast, fired mainly from hip so ironsight is enough and doesn’t impair my field of view.

Class: I don’t have a favorite class… really. What I like is to complement the team where it is lacking. The problem is that Brink is a bit paradoxical in this matter. Command posts to switch easily, but character levelling that prevents you from having potent abilities in all domains at once. And you can’t change character in-game. I love soldier to make the “push” in offense, with blind nade + rush and boosted grenades shooting. I love engy to boost friends’ weapons and armor, deploy mines and turrets in tricky places and upgrade CPs to boost team even more. I love medic because I can stand just behind the main fighters, healing them as they get hit, Adrenaline + Speed at the right moment, revive fallen mates and keep the squad going. I love Operative to put spiky in tricky places, disguise and go to hunt lonely players, spot mines and enemies behind the choke point and hack their turret, control my engy mates turret to surprise enemies with turret reactivity and range, EMP defenses or offense hack… See, I just can’t choose, and the good thing in games like Brink is that you can change so you don’t get bored too fast. Well once again Brink is a bir paradoxical in that matter (all classes have same weapons, so it limits the gameplay differences between classes to abilities only and not fighting style, more linked to body type, not changeable in game too…).

Combat tactics: When medium : AR when running in the open, SMG when in corridor and ready to melee-knock and empty clip in the face or first encounter. When heavy, either area denial / enemy group softening with EZ nades, or corridor mawing with gotlung and hopefully a medic behind, healing me and sometimes ubercharging me (I mean adrenaline, oops). I love to mix melee and SMG, and yet, I don’t play light so much because I tend to stick with the team and unless you’re a band of light-bodies, I don’t really see the point of having a light body if you’re going to stick with the medium and heavies anyway.

And I think this is touching a fundamental design question in Brink. Characters customization, abilities, body types… In appearance, lots of way to customize your play style. But in effect ? You’ll have to play a class because it is missing in the team’s need, but you lack abilities with this class. You’d need to change bodytype because half of the team is heavy and is on offense, making it sluggish and difficult to advance, and you can’t… So much for the adaptation to the needs, something I loved about previous SD games. I think there is a design paradox here that needs to be sorted out for Brink 2 or whatever their next game would be. Maybe just allow character change in-game, or at least between rounds ? Or maybe the message is that we should make more all-rounders chars, meaning harder choices on abilities, instead of specializing too much and being less useful out of the role.

sorry for the off-topic in the end

(nephandys) #10

-Favorite body type and why…For me it’s medium. I’ve played with all the body types and this one gives me access to the weapons I want to use the most and still allows me most of the mobility of the light body type.

-Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why…I like the Rhett (primary) and Kross (secondary). I’ve tried quite a bit of each weapon and find the Rhett has nice damage with decent accuracy when fired in bursts (not as accurate as Gerund, but more damaging, maybe not quite as damaging as Euston, but much more accurate at range where I tend to use my AR from).

-Favorite weapon add ons and why…Rhett - red dot, muzzle break, Front grip (switch to USGL on my soldier), no mag add on. Kross - red dot, muzzle break, front grip, drum mag (love the drum mag otherwise I might switch to the Bulpdaun)

-Favorite class and why…I really like them all, but am favoring soldier lately.

-Favorite abilities and why…Caltrops and mines - I love areas of denial which will probably make Napalm Grenade one of my favorites as well. I also love the Soldiers frag and molotov.

-Preferred combat tactics(example; crouched-shooter, how often you aim down the sights, an avid grenade shooter or rather use underslung grenades, loves holding down the fire and the move button, etc…) - I am always on the move no matter what class I am playing. I rarely if ever ADS, unless I have the cover, the range, or have gone unnoticed. I simply burst fire my AR from the hip and always hip fire my SMG. If I play soldier I tend to play more in your face and up in the thick of things thanks to the built in kevlar. As operative I am more behind the enemy lines causing confusion and picking people off that way. As medic I am generally always with the thick of my team making sure rez’s, heals, and buffs are going out. As engi I also tend to get a bit more into the thick of things (knowing for sure I’ll have the weapon buff) after setting up some defenses.

-Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?..These two goals frequently vary within and between matches, depends on your class, and at times can even be one and the same. So I guess I’ll go with a nice balance of focusing on helping my team while racking up as many kills as I can.

I play almost entirely in standard 8v8 mode.

Personally I can’t wait for the weapons patch to buff AR’s a bit and take some of the sting out of the Carb as I have always been a fan of the AR/SMG combo.

(R_Shackelford) #11

-Favorite body type and why…
Mainly Medium. Heavy just moves to slow for me, and is too restricted in its movement. I do enjoy the speed and extra agility of the Light, and use Light for a couple of my characters (Light Medic is fun… "Dun da da daaaaa! Bounding to the rescue! And away with a leap and a slide!), but I often find myself getting killed too quickly. I can deal with the weapon restrictions of the Light, but that extra touch of health on the Medium is nice to have.

-Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why…
-Favorite weapon add ons and why…
For Medium, my defaults are the Rokstedi and Kross, and I usually swap to the Kross as soon as I spawn.

The Kross gets a D-Flex, Front Grip, Muzzle Break, and Drum Mag. That gives it decent stability and accuracy, and though the damage is only moderate, the Drum Mag turns it into a bullet hose. I’ve tried going with the Carb-9, but I just don’t feel like I get very good results with it.

The Rokstedi gets a COGA scope, Front Grip, Muzzle Break, and Rapid Fire. Great stopping power and accuracy at a distance, even with multiple shots in quick succession. I really love picking people off with this thing, and it’s pretty effective even at close range when I don’t have time to reload the Kross. “Tap tap tap tap” and they’re down.

When running Light, I go with the Bulpdaun and Sea Eagle (sometimes Ritchie). The Bulpdaun gets the COGA, Grip, Muzzle Break, and Extended Mag. I like it because it’s got great accuracy at range (I sometimes use it while running Medium, as well). It’s gotta have the Extended Mag, though, because I don’t think its got enough stopping power to consistently finish someone off with one regular clip.

Sea Eagle and Ritchie get Speed Holster (duh), Muzzle Break, COGA, and Rapid Fire. Again, good accuracy at range (though the Ritchie has more recoil than I’d like), and good stopping power for close encounters.

Once in a while I’ll grab the Drognav with a Snoop-R, but I’ve found the Rokstedi usually will suffice. Barnett has too much recoil for my taste.

-Favorite class and why…
I like to make sure everyone’s buffed, so Engineer would be first favorite, and Medic second. I always make sure everyone gets buffed up (I really wish there were icons showing which players were already buffed, so I wouldn’t need to run up to everyone to check). The Engineer also allows the self-weapon-buff, so I don’t need to worry about someone else taking the time to buff my gun, and I love dropping those strategic mines and turrets. I always try to place turrets behind a wall/object where someone will run past it, never where they can see it while approaching.

Medic, again, making sure everyone’s got their “improved” health buff, and I dish out Metabolism buffs as soon as I spawn, and as soon as it cools down, and I’m a revive fiend. I bolt out and toss syringes whenever I see people down, often running into crossfires, tossing two or three syringes, and sliding/vaulting into cover. I also usually start my characters with Medic skills, and respec at level 19 or 20, as I’ve found that it is the best class for XP farming and leveling up new characters (although, now that I’ve got six level 20 dual-class characters, and I’m working on my four super-class specialists, I’m going to try to just stick with the abilities for the final class, no Medic farming).

Third would be Operative, which I’d like to spend more time with, because you have to be more “creative” with your playstyle. Soldier’s fun too, but it just doesn’t feel like there’s very much “unique” about it.

-Favorite abilities and why…
Universal: Extra health, extra supplies, sprinting reload, supply recharge. I keep it simple. I need the points for other stuff, as so far, my characters are all dual-class.
Engineer: Upgrade CP (I try to give all my characters Upgrade CP, no matter what their main classes. Those pips come in handy), improved weapon buff, extra mines, upgraded turrets. For my dual-class Engineers, I use all Engineer skills except Nerves of Steel. Gotta have that extra mine. As soon as one blows, I’m laying another one down.
Medic: I guess Self-Revive would be my “favorite” Medic ability. Laz-Nade is pretty handy, too. When building dual-class Medics, I forgo Transfer Supplies (like I’ve got any to spare after buffing and reviving), and Fleet of Foot, and get everything else.
Operative: Favorites would be Hack Turret and Caltrops. Hacking turrets is just plain fun, and Caltrops are a must for disorienting opponents. Firewall CP is another skill I try to give all my characters, if I’ve got the point to spare. When tight on points for dual-class Operatives, I’ll pass on the Cortex Bomb and Homing Beacon, and sometimes Comms Hack.
Soldier: Don’t really have any favorites. I guess my least-favorite would be the Flashbang. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but it’s the only Soldier ability I didn’t get on my Soldier-Medic (and I’ll probably get it when we get the extra points with the DLC, unless Nape-Nades aren’t an upgrade, and I need the slot for those). Satchel Charges look pretty cool, but I haven’t really used them (like I said, don’t do much Soldiering).

-Preferred combat tactics
As you could probably tell from my weapon choices, I prefer to engage at range if possible. ADS as much as possible. Don’t crouch much (unless going for cover) or use too many grenades. I’m really a mixed bag, as even though I prefer to keep my distance from enemies, I also charge objectives when necessary. I try to hang back behind the group when playing Medic, because I like to try to give health buffs when teammates are near death, but on the other hand, I’ll charge in guns blazing, and duck back for a quick self-health-buff when hurt, so I can whip back and finish them off. I’m also big on capping and upgrading CPs whenever possible, and will take the long way around to flank enemies; especially fun to flank and pick at them with the Rokstedi or Bulpdaun, sowing a bit of distraction. Don’t really feel like I have a set playstyle, aside from making sure everyone’s buffed, making sure I get my deployables down in good spots, spam the health and revives, and generally (but not at all exclusively) attacking from range. Gotta adapt, adapt, adapt!

-Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?..

Whichever the situation calls for, but generally, support.

@Stormchild
So you’re pretty much like me, often a support member. I find it nice that you try to find your balance in those two, be it defensive or supportive.

And that’s a thought I would like to agree too, changing characters in-between matches, hope they add that, and being able to change body types between matches too.

@nephandys
General defense and mobility. A proper rifleman in my opinion.

@R_Shackelford
Based on your weapon and class preferences, your pretty keen on being a support. That’s great though in my opinion, for I see folks who buffs teammates more tend to get some pretty lots of points.

And as for NigelDocker and its al bout security.
Cool, concise, and mysterious. I like that. XD

Hmmm…So far, only few folks are sticking with a refined role, while most tries to be as versatile as possible. I think I’m starting to see now that one big of a problem with Brink is that the game design forces the players to find and narrow themselves into a very specific specialty. While, unfortunately ,the game itself(during a match), demands players to be as varied as possible…hmmm, weird, conflicted game design it turned out to be.

Still, going very awesome so far!

(dabis) #15

-Favorite body type and why…
I play light body type on all my characters except for my heavy solider mainly because after playing light for a little while, I can’t stand how slow even medium feels to me. Additionally, I find I do as well, or better when using SMG over AR, so it just makes sense to me to run light.

-Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why…
I usually use the Kross for general game-play, the CARB-9 for close-quarters objective where accuracy isn’t quite as important, and the Bulpadaun when I need a little extra range on my SMG fire. As for my secondary, I always use my hockler mini-pistol.

-Favorite weapon add ons and why…
For my primary SMGs, I rock the front grip, four-vent muzzle break, drum magazine, and adjusted iron sights/yeo-tek red dot depending on which SMG I’m using. For my hockler I use the muzzle break, speed sling, normal clip for fast reloading, and a yeo-tek red dot.

-Favorite class and why…
Medic is by far my favorite class, with engineer coming in at second. I like medic because when played well, it allows for the overall team effort to continue, whether it be during defending or offense. If your whole team goes down and can’t revive no matter what the situation, it’s easy for the other team to complete/plant an offensive objective, or rebuff their entire team while defending, so keeping people healed and alive limits the buff gap between teams, and can sometimes make the difference between a loss and win in some matches.

-Favorite abilities and why…
Improved health buff, Adrenaline, Revive, Speed boost, and Lazarus are my favorite abilities, but that’s a given since at least a few of those listed are required to be used to be a successful medic.

-Preferred combat tactics
Since I’m a light medic, I put a good bit of focus into attempting to stay alive as long as possible, and because of such I often use the terrain around me like gates, the bot, tables, chairs, etc. as coverage while reloading/being fired at. I usually try to save a good bit of my energy for revives just considering how often people are knocked down in this game, but I do give health buffs to anyone missing a decent bit of health as well. In firefights if behind cover, I will crouch and move out in ADS to hit the enemy with a few bursts from my SMG before taking cover again. In a close-range firefight I usually end up just hip-firing, since I’m pretty accurate with that, and my SMGs are all built to be an extra bit more accurate from the hip as well.

-Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?..
Giving help without a doubt unless in a given situation getting kills would have a larger impact on the main objective (talking about going to kill a person planting a charge or something of the sort over immediately reviving everyone I can, but overall helping people is much more important).

It’s a given, but in any matches with any AI, I ALWAYS focus on the real players first as well in terms of who gets revives, buffs, and aid first.

In my experience if you are playing with a team of people (not just randoms in pubs, but people you know) you don’t have to be that varied in matches. You already have all your bases covered by your teammates. It’s nice if everyone has different characters so you don’t have to play the same role every match/night though.

(AmishWarMachine) #17

-Favorite body type and why-
My first character is a Medium Med/Eng, and I really like his balance of mobility and health. My second character is a Light Op/Eng, and he can be extremely fun, with his ability to get into and out of combat situations so quickly. My third character is a Heavy Sol/Eng, and while his lack of speed and mobility can be excruciating (esp. on offense) his added health can really be handy when I’m trying to hold down the opposition with my Chinzor and steady stream of grenades.

-Favorite primary and secondary weapons and why-
Don’t know that I have a favorite. For my medium, I think I roll Euston/Carb-9, my light goes Bauldpun/Sea Eagle, and my heavy rolls Chinzor/Euston… if memory serves. I’ve dabbled with most the other ARs and SMGs, with varied results. It’ll be interesting to see what I do after the weapon tweaks go in effect on the PS3… might have to take another look at that FRKN-3K.

-Favorite weapon add ons and why-
On everyone except my hvy sol/eng I roll red-dot, suppressor/silencer (I prioritize stealth), duct-taped mags, front grip. On my heavy I swap suppressor/silencer for muzzle break, to help tame the recoil.

-Favorite class and why-
I’m partial to the medic class, though I actually play it the least. Sounds peculiar, I know, but the medic class, as much as love being a lifeline, I equally love being versatile, which I wouldn’t say medics are. Engineers, to me, are the most versatile, and therefor, the most fun. Operatives are a close second, and were they to get a team buff of some form, might actually take the top spot from engineers. Soldiers can be a little versatile, but even they are mostly singular in purpose (kill & suppress). I do enjoy having 3 forms of grenade at my disposal, though.

-Favorite abilities and why-
Silent Running + Suppressor/Silencer. There is no greater joy in my life than coming in behind a group of enemies (either on the push, or holed up in defense) and burning their playhouse to the ground. These two in combination allow me to realize that joy, over and over again.

-Preferred combat tactics-
Command Post capture and flanking the enemy are my two go-to tactics. With my heavy character, that changes and I go to the “firehose of bullets” for suppression and slaughter. If the team is coordinating a push, I’m more than happy to join in that as well. When it comes to aim, if I’m mid-long range, I ADS… if they’re up close and personal, hip-fire is the shoot du jour. I find gib’ing the incapacitated a priority as well, as I hate to repeat efforts.

-Which matters most, getting kills, or giving help?-
Depends in the situation, as in some cases, the two are mutually inclusive. Since I run stealth most of the time, I rarely run into a situation where I have to decide whether to kill an opponent I see (and risk my whereabouts being known), or keep running unnoticed to my objective at hand. What really matters most, is having fun, and sometimes I think it can be really fun when you’re forced out of your own little box, to approach a situation outside of your “comfort zone”. I’m under the impression (right, wrong, or otherwise), that those that decry this game the most, are those that do not share that point of view.

My 2cp

(Seatsniffer) #18

I play a pure Medic - lightbodytype, every upgrade picked towards that…always :stuck_out_tongue:
I never change class, never change weapon (Tampa, Eagle).
Only multiplayer, obviously.

I prefer the Resistance, for it has my pre-order skin-pack, including the potatosack XD

I usually slide into corners behind cover, and stay crouched while my health and buffs reload, keeping an eye on the team closeby.
But if I get the chance, I’ll spend all my ammo with great enthousiasm :stuck_out_tongue:
…often with a huge jump, to land right next to the enemy.

Mostly, I end up as top-player, way to easy if u ask me…I’m not bragging, ask Fireworks!
But it’s still a really fun game, not planning to go try other classes.
Imo, that’s a compliment for Brink.

I don’t play it anymore because I have an ati card.
