How do you make command map icons pulse?

Some of my icons pulse, some don’t. What makes them pulse, how do I link several icons to pulse at the same time (e.g., capture and cap points), and how do you turn it off?

I can’t provide you with a link, but I remember one of the SplashDamage guys saying that this is one of the broken things in ET.

There has previously been threads about this, but none revealed the entire secret.

This is related to the broken objflags system. It was never completed.
