how do you guys script the attachments??

cos i can model and animate, and (badly) texture a gun, but how do you guys actually make it so that when y
ou click red dot, it goes to Red dot and muzzle and then prefixes it ready for battle? is it scripting?

Weapon definitions specify a list of attachments for the weapon. The attachment information includes things like the attachment point (the main weapon model is a skeletal mesh, so we specify a bone here), damage multipliers, stability modifiers, attachment type, etc. One attachment per weapon may be marked as the default to be used when none is selected in its type.

We then store a mask on the user profile which says which attachments are selected for a given weapon.
