How do NX and SD plan on making money off DB after all this?

^ The title.

I just don’t get it how they have to put every single thing behind RNG, keep the prices high for pretty much everything and give away so so so little information that they have to explain themselves over and over again in as little bits as possible.

The biggest problem for me is the communication part.
“Cases working as intended” ; “It was never confirmed a set loadout”.

I mean the event cases were straight up broken. I could play the first week with 9 boosters and nothing until I bought one more.

The current obsidian drama.
I was ready to pay for the obsidian pack JUST for the obsidian as I had really high expectations that it would be a set loadout. I had 350k+ credits in the bank, do you really think I wanted to pay for Aimee with real money?

So why is the obsidian being 1/9 such a big deal?
I paid for it, just as much as everyone else paid for it, but why do I have to accept getting different value out of it? Why do I have to accept facing the RNG and possibly, POSSIBLY getting the worst loadout for X gun(that I also might like the least)? How fun would it be to have your obsidian Proxy just sit in the inventory while the lucky ones got their preferred loadouts?
I really thought the obsidian pack was a fair deal for everyone, either we all get a crappy loadout or we get something that’s actually nice (+ Aimee I guess).

I really took my time considering getting the obsidian pack. In the end what decided it for me was that I’d really like to give something to the devs…
well… at least we’re getting trading… soon… right? Oh wait, we can’t trade obsidians.

Fool me once, shame on me…

I mean, not gonna mention the event anymore, but treating customers like this, how are they gonna keep on going?

I think I haven’t really bought much, the old starter pack and a trinket, which I was happy about as I got what I paid for and well, now this. Would have never gotten it if it was confirmed it was going to be 1/9 from the start. I guess I’ll just keep spending my money on other games until they finally decide to sell something worthy that doesn’t involve RNG.

…what are you complaining about?

It’s getting increasingly difficult to spend money on the game. This whole 1/9 obsidian drama has got me a little tilted, even if I do get a good card. It’s not even about getting a good or bad card any more, it’s just the reason behind why they make these kinds of decisions when it is clear most people hate them. Like I can’t even comprehend how anyone in either office thought the RNG obsidian was a good idea. It literally does my head in trying to picture people agreeing on such a thing.

Sure like they said, even if it was a guaranteed card, we don’t know what one they would have picked, so it was no different. That may be the case, but since Proxy already has two shotgun loadouts, it was safe to say everyone was expecting a hochfir loadout. For them to turn around and say you can’t guarantee that and that it’s just community speculation, that upsets me even more because it makes me realise how out of touch they are with what the community wants if they were considering adding another shotgun proxy obsidian.

I’ve probably spent around $200 on the game in all honesty, but it’s getting to the stage where I am no longer willing to drop a single dollar any more until we can buy set items rather than RNG, like the skull trinket for example.

But it is what it is, and I will continue to play the game any way because I think it’s fun and arguably the best FPS around at the moment, but hey time will tell.

Completely agree, the monetary system is clearly a cash grab and not designed to be sustainable.
Its a huge kick in the nuts to the dedicated players who love this game. Time and time again we are supporting and being disappointed.

Concerns regarding the obsidian card were raised as soon as this event was announced and all our concerns were completely ignored.

All we can do now is talk with our money…

(ZeSpecter) #5

Yeh, couldn’t agree more. What a way to treat their customers, holy shit. Pulling this shit just took away any desire for me to ever pay for anything in this game anymore, cause all you’re most likely going to get is a shitty ass loadout card that you don’t even want because EVERYONE JUST LOVES RNG. I’m totally fine with the standard culprit case being 1/9, I even prefer it that way, but the obsidian being RNG as well? What the hell

(Cletus_VanDamme) #6

I bought the event items (trinket + obsidian) but other than that haven’t spent any money since December.

Quite frankly there’s nothing worth buying.

Somebody spending 3 minutes to design the poop camo (WTD) and letting their child design the scribble camo (ReV) doesn’t inspire me spend $50 AU for a 10% chance at getting one.

So many people have mentioned it so many times. Reduce the costs of event cases and you’ll sell more. Simples.

Bring in specific items (skins, cards, new costumes etc) that people can buy and people will spend money.

My thinking is that there’s enough people currently spending their money on the current items so things won’t change, fine well my attitude of not spending money on this game won’t change either then.

Such a pity. You have a brilliant product here. You just need someone with a sense of reality to push you in the right direction and you’ll rake the cash in.

Sadface me.

Can you please stop posting these unintelligent one-liners?
Wherever I go on these forums, I come across these dumb posts of yours.
Just take a good look at your own post history, and think to yourself: What can I improve here to not look like a mentally handicapped person?

(AlphaUT) #8

I mean the event cases were straight up broken. I could play the first week with 9 boosters and nothing until I bought one more.

This explains what exactly happened with last event

(MarsRover) #9

I bought the obsidian pack because SD wouldn’t dare to give as a shitty loadout. The wording about it was just enough different from the Culprit Case that it suggested a single loadout. Another “miscommunication” and it’s out fault that we “jumped to conclusions”. Oh, and the thing that every previous Obisidian was a fixed loadout.

Then you change your mind halfway through the event. What the fuck?

GG SD :frowning:

Cases have always been just a cash grab, and continue be so as long as the system is so that functionality is bound to skins and vice-versa. Stop buying them with money and they have to reconsider the system sooner than later.

Want to support the development process? Buy mercs / trinkets as with those you definitely do know what you’re getting.

(triteCherry) #11

I have to admit, SD has some balls. Slapping around your paying customers with vague wording that could effect their purchasing decisions right before the release of another (from the looks of the OB numbers) popular team based FPS game takes guts. Most F2P generally screws around with their F2P players, potential customers, from time to time but this is the first time I’ve seen a F2P game do it to actual paying customers.

(TheGreatHoundini) #12

I feel like they should probably be following the model of Collectible Card games like Magic: The Gathering where there’s Booster Packs that you pay X USD for and you get a bunch of cards (rather than just one) of the kind stated in the Booster Packs and it’s themed like you can get “Container War Booster Pack”, “Aimee’s Hunt Booster Pack”, etc.

Would help also if they started following Magic: The Gathering’s system of having the Loadouts be unique to Events, themes… that still doesn’t stop people from chancing into them by using the random drop Equipment Cases, Event Cases, etc. So technically no one has an advantage, but it would be a more direct reward for people who pay because they get “more bling” even if in real gameplay terms there’s no advantage/disadvantage since the Loadouts rotate the same Augments and Weapons regardless.

(TheGreatHoundini) #13

This would also mean that your chance to get, say, Free Suspect Loadout Cards was by participating in the event as it happened, or you can get more Suspect Loadout Cards by buying the “Rogue En Vogue Booster Pack” (and you’d get 3 Cards + a Trinket for example).

But once Rogue En Vogue is consigned to history, future new players will only be able to buy get Suspect Loadout Cards by buying the “Rogue En Vogue Booster Pack” and the store description would have to include some flavor text to inform new players of what they missed in terms of story events.

It also means the more stuff SD build… the larger the Store becomes… just like it is right now for Wizards of the Coast.

(IcySkyz) #14

I am not surprised. Look at all the other games Nexon hosts, majority of them support RNG based paid items.

(Dawnlazy) #15

Yeah they’ve done some pretty nonsensical stuff. I had already unlocked everything I wanted for actual gameplay long before spending money in the game, the regular prices are too expensive so I only bought stuff on sale events (aside from Aimee+obsidian case). But now that they started being like this I don’t know if I’ll want to spend more money, miscommunicating whether the obsidian case was fixed or random was pretty bad (though I bought it straight away without knowing any specifics, can definitely understand that some people bought it after reading that it was going to be a set card then got upset at it suddenly changing to RNG), and so was the whole affair with the drop boosters clearly not working and the devs either turning deaf ears to it or being straight up dishonest.

They really need to review their business model, but definitely without touching the F2P aspect of this game as it is really good IMO, it’s super easy to unlock mercs and loadouts, much better than the P2W crap that infests other F2P games.

(Occult) #16

i just hope if they were to sell cards separately, that they dont treat it like some of there other games where its 30$-70$ because the rng was taken out. if that happens, no thanks. new game

Since light, subtle jokes aren’t allowed here I would imagine that this thread is against the rules as it goes into detail regarding the player’s unhappiness.

Oh yeah, supposed to “tag” mods rather than click report or leave a reply like usual.

So here we go: @NxA_Noxie

(jjpdn) #18

They should have made-> use in game money, RNG.
Use real money, 100% the loadout you want.

(FerfyDerf) #19

I almost see this as SD being split here due to Proxy having two different types of primaries. Rather than disappoint all shotty users or all Hochfir users just disappoint some of each. I still feel that’s the path to burn more bridges, SD.

(CyaN) #20

THE FOLLOWING IS JUST MY OPINION:

They probably did this so that its somewhat fair to players. Take for example: the founder’s proxy has hollunds whereas the closed beta obsidian proxy is reimburg. If they were to fix a hochfir proxy, those who wants a shotgun would complain=unhappy players. If they were to fix a shotgun, those who have the same type of gun in obsidian proxy before would complain. Thats why the simplest way to solve this is to 1/9 as they cant possibly satisfy every single player. I personally prefer this as i really dont know what i really want for proxy so im letting SD to help me decide. I decided to pay money for this is because i really like dirty bomb as and overall and i want that game to prosper.

Sry if i ranted and maybe offended some people but this is my personal opinion on this. Do not forget that dirty bomb is a FTP game! (They also need funds to continue improving this game)
