How do I tell if a PM is from a legit dev?

I got a PM from someone claiming to be a dev, but I don’t know how to validate that it isn’t someone spoofing me. Their forum member level is “Junior Game Designer” and they use the splash damage logo for their avatar but they have no posts and little forum activity. If they use the same game ID as their forum ID, they are level 5 which seems kinda low for even a junior dev.

Thoughts?

I was trying to not “out” anybody. Thanks for the link and the idea. I had actually PM’ed badman and he responded just before I read your post. Anyway, case closed, and thanks for your help.

Safest way is to check if they’re listed on http://forums.warchest.com/showgroups.php :slight_smile:

Also, developers will have a colored name (either orange, bright blue, or lime green depending on their company).
