How do I mess with my clip? How do I make a hole?

(Sanius) #1

hello. I have a problem with my clipping on my tank. it covers my tank the way I want, but the problem is, I can’t walk infront of the tank. Since the clipping is like this…

http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v30/Sanius/Misc%20Stuff/exampleclip.jpg

how do I make it so the clip only surrounds the tank? instead of the tank and more?

And another problem. I am trying too cut a hole in my floor to add water/fog, and one in the wall a size of a door (so I can open my door and actully walk through it. :P)

Thanks!

Edit - Oh, and also, how do I add a sky, fully working? I tried wolfenstienx’s tutorial, but it’s no help to me… thanx

PS: I also figured out how to get my textures. I had to delete et, download it, and then install.

erm, you probably want to resize the clip brush. yessss, it’s only
a brush that can be resized as you would do with any other brush.

>>And another problem. I am trying too cut a hole in my floor…

okay now i might guess what you want to do… but i still don’t know
what you mentioned problem is. being more specific could be helpful.

try textures/fueldump/fueldumpsky. this one works for sure. be
careful with other skies… half of them are broken. just test it

create multiple clip brushes or use e or v to edit your brush and cover the tank with it.

To cut a hole in a wall, floor create a brush the size of the hole and use CSG Subtract or you can create the brushes yourself.

to create a sky select the brush faces of your sky with crtl+alt+shift+left mouse button and then apply a sky texture on it that has a white border.

These are my techniques, maybe wrong but they work for me

csg substract is eeeeevil

read this tutorial about making proper ‘holes’ and rooms:
http://www.nibsworld.com/rtcw/tutorial_connecting_rooms_basic.shtml

and this excelent clipping tool tutorial by sock:
http://www.planetquake.com/simland/pages/articles/2pointclip1.htm

and apply the freshly gained knowledge to your clip brush and you’ll get quite far. ( I hope)

Isn’t there a way to make a shader with the required texture and then add a few rows to make it stop objects from moving through it?
