How did you do that?

Hello,

Questions about terrain on:

  1. Braundorf - how the rock walls were made? (by which option in EasyGen or another editor). Also how to make such a road as you can see there? It’s straight, like in SupplyDepot and made of brushes. I haven’t seen such effect in terrain edity tool, maybe in radiant (curves). Really don’t know…

Thanks!

Hand made terrain?

I hate easygen, and since FATE isnt done, im gonna make my terrain by hand, in radiant.

i cant remember what map you are talking about but rockwalls are quite easy. a grid of brushes stacked along the side of the wall then just pull and push some vertices’s until you have to desired look. then the more complex step is you need to add a shader for smoother lighting

alternatively you can model rock walls in your preferred modeling program. export as a .ASE model and place it in your map

wait… ET reads .ase models too?

No, it doesn’t, but Q3Map2 does.
ASE models can be linked to misc_model entities which Q3Map2 will convert.

Rock walls were made by messing about with the rockwall tutorial technique from Sock’s site (can’t remember the link off the top of my head I’m afraid, I’m sure someone has it somewhere) - obviously i’s not a tunnel, so I just curved off the top instead.

The convex corners near the side gate and CP were a bugger tbh.

Not sure what you mean about the road - do you mean the brown dirt track bit? If so that was done following another of sock’s tutorials.

EDIT: Missed mrfin’s post - that covers it.

shhhhh… don’t confuse them more

Yeah, I meant a road where in supply depot the truck goes 8)

Thanks! I’ll take a look on the simland asap.
