Okay, so my deal is, Ever since the update I haven’t been achieving the same amount of FPS I have been achieving since the last update, And iv’e been searching around and in other forums (Redit) and all I see is "Change your Config on ShooterEngine.ini) and I tried that but it changed nothing and so i’m wondering if they patched it, But other then that I want my FPS back (60-100FPS) Please help and thanks!
How can I improve my frames?
a lot of ppl are saying the same thing, that FPS has dropped. I would be curious as to see if SD has an “official” explanation
yeah since the update i have been playing on a semi-slideshow and nothing has been helping. I want to be able to play dammit!
i’m getting constant 50-60 fps even in dome… [/quote]
Bruhh… How is telling me this gonna help me?
This happens every patch without fail. Also, there are a ton of people reporting that their FPS got better too.
So, yeah…
I miss the times when outc1der’s config was enough to get me going in the game without stuttering. Now even with Typo’s lowest config, I can’t do jack. This game has some serious optimization issues.
Studying recordings with stat_FPS on, I’ve noticed that muzzle flashes, bullet traces, explosions and bullet impacts (blood sprays etc.) have a way bigger impact on framerate, than they have any right to.
I wish that we were still able to disable these things, considering that the game is “competitive to the core” (LMAO)
@srswizard Did you notice any frame drop or stuttering when your character takes hits? It often happens to me, which makes duels a bit inconvenient.
My frames are a solid 144. I only seem to notice a dive, and I’ve confirmed this on video, when a new player joins a server. But it’s random or seemingly random. My theory is that a merc/loadout/weapon that hasn’t been loaded into memory yet on my client is in the squad of the new player and the game isn’t handling it gracefully. That’s the only thing that I can think of which explains a very inconsistent dip that only rarely happens on my particular setup.
I should probably test this on a server by myself and setup performance recording when new players join. I first noticed this when I went to a server by myself and a player joined and it gave me a hell of a dip. And some systems might be more susceptible to it as well.
Can someone tell me what are the lines for character detail in ShooterEngine.ini?
FPS problems? The game recommends a 7800GTX and that is some pretty old hardware to be able to run this game. Guess people are using integrated graphics or splash damage indeed did something.

I cannot agree more. Some of the graphical restrictions WERE necessary, i.e. removing foliage. However, stuff like explosives, muzzle flash, etc are NOT necessary.
Getting a nvida GPU. Because in the end they do not care at all for AMD. I with a R9 390, have similar performance to a GTX 750.

Removing explosions, despite the claim that it wasn’t an advantage due to the disadvantages that came with it, are most definitely something that should be forced on. Muzzle flash should be an option to turn off and things like that. But being able to see through airstrikes and other explosions was heavily advantageous even with it’s disadvantages (which is how people justified it). I played with a config with them off for a quite a while so I know exactly what I am talking about here.
Muzzle flash is not lowering your FPS. People are just using that as an excuse to help get an option to turn it off in the game. I’m fine with people wanting it off. I want it off. I just don’t want people trying to shoehorn it in with another issue.
Gotta keep in mind though, this game is heavily CPU dependent. A great graphics card will certainly do him good, but it more than likely will not get him as far as he wants to go.

Never said muzzle flash had any sort of bearing on the performance of the actual gameplay, was just agreeing with what srswizard had said about turning them off, regardless of the games performance. Also, I don’t think that completely turning off explosions is the best option either. They could definitely make a different and less intensive explosion or something of the like, however. (i.e. cg_wolfparticles 0 from ET)

Which is exactly what you get with the current settings. They are as low as you can get before they are removed in most “low fps” configs. I am all for more options…I just don’t want to go back to the option of no explosions disrupting your view so you can easily see where people are when you shouldn’t be able to.
And you have no idea how many people have said to me, and were being straight about it, that muzzle flash is a big cause of consistent low FPS. One of those guys is/was a pretty ell known player too.
