how can i help my frame rate?

(enigmaplatypus) #1

so since in the past few days i have had below normal frame rates (12-20 frames), now im on 4-10 frames. does anyone know how i can help my frame rate? i have the game optimized according to my nvidia card (except in windowed mode because otherwise i will crash), verified integrity of cache, tried many different resolutions, put in a technical support ticket, tried custom configs (and failed). im really out of ideas. i passed the minimum requirements for the game but it told me that my gpu/cpu is a bit on the line so. but normally everything worked fine but now i can’t play :frowning: i did put a post in the technical support area too but no one replied and im getting desperate.

Lmao, optimized by Geforce Experience?
Think I found your issue.

Honestly, if none of the FPS configs work for you, you might just need to look at upgrading your setup.

lol, is geforce that bad XD also i just noticed that every time i validate the cache 2 files are always missing, but i dont think they are being re-acquired?

(Mura) #4

Yeah never use the GeForce in order to optimize, it will always drop your fps

(enigmaplatypus) #5

so how would i reverse it?

There should be a button to revert your settings. I’m not at home to help out, but there should be a button for it in the config

@Enigmaplatypus In the game guides section you wrote the config the author of the thread included did not work.
The thread was made in February 2015 and such is out of date.
I recommend you trying out sick’s config if you haven’t done so yet.
Make sure to put any configs on read-only before starting the game.

Other than that I fear there isn’t much you can do other than an upgrade.
It would be helpful if you could tell us your system specs.

The best way to earn more fps is to lower your resolution and lower quality of shadows to minimum or turn them off if possible (but, as I understand, you already did the latter). What resoluton you currently use? Also, do you run unnecessary programs in the background? If your ram is poor, it may considerably affect your game.

(HunterAssassin5) #11

Try deleting your confit files and starting the game to reset your settings.
And to boost FPS, you can modify your ini file to make the graphics even lower quality than the settings would allow, or you could upgrade your hardware.

I’ve mentioned this a while back. But Geforce Experience, at least when I messed around with it for fun to see what it changed from a custom FPS config, turned one frame interval off. Which, as most people know, causes a rather massive drop in FPS. Which sounds like what happened to you.

I have been getting significant fps drops in dirty bomb when I updated my drivers and I have a quite powerful rig so I think it might be nvidas fault

Read my previous post. I reported it too as an issue as well a while back.

I’m not an expert, but some people say stopping your pc from “core parking” may help low fps issues.

Core parking means that if you got a dual core cpu, the computer might only use one of the cores at a time even if it would require both to run games smoothly. You can somehow check if this is the case and you can find instructions by googling. There are third party programs for stopping your pc from core parking and it should at most just increase your energy consumption but do no other funny stuff.

(I also used to have very low fps probs. I fixed my problem by uppgrading to windows 10 and getting rid of useless programs. But I remember core parking mentioned on forums.)

It’s sample the game is not optimized very well from dev side not much we can do about this crazy fps drops :frowning:

Ah, yes, good old core parking.

Because Windows said, “Hey, why not stop them from using their processor? Let’s put it in the registry so only a few people know where to find it!”

Anyways, I would look reinstall and then make sure to follow all the instructions in the FPS Config Guides threads. I don’t know a lot of machines from this century that can’t play this game with more than 4-10 frames.

Maybe it’s not the right discussion to post it, I’m experiencing some drop of FPS (from 50-60 to 19-20) since last patch. Last time was about october of last year, and then it stopped for a couple of months. But since last patch, FPS dropping came back and I would like to know if someone else has the same problem.
