How about _farplanedist for func_groups ?

(-=skOre=-) #1

This would be THE feature I would like to see, is it somewhere near to be possible ???

(Quaker-X) #2

Yes, we need this feature!

Also, TA-style terrain on .ase models. Unless it’s already supported.

(-=skOre=-) #3

Is it like I didn’t get it to work right and it already is working, or have I made a task that ydnar only wants to reply to when finished?

(ydnar) #4

Neither of these is likely to happen.

_farplanedist is a hack into the vis code, and can’t operate on a func_group basis, only a portal/leaf basis.

As for ASE terrain, I’m working on other solutions.

Damn :banghead:

But thanks anyway :frowning:

(Codey) #6

interesting… why do you want farplanedist on func_group basis?

(megaman) #7

probably so that he can make small details you wouldnt see from a distance anyways get culled.

(-=skOre=-) #8

Yes, as you have to find some middle way at the moment.

I was also thinking about this grass stuff other engines have, like SeriousSam2, but that could also be model based…

Maybe I have to try it with specific model LODs…

Remembers me of having to learn how to model :disgust:

(megaman) #9

you cant have model lod iirc (with mapmodels that is)

(-=skOre=-) #10

:disgust: Nothing… they leave you with no options…
