How about an Upvote/Downvote system - So the Trolls/Jerks will have to play with each other

(Gwarh) #1

I’ve never played League of Legends, but if I am correct it has a way to “upvote/downvote” other players building a sort of karma or reputation based on their ingame attitude and behaviour.

Toxic players end up with lots of downvotes and are relegated to playing against other trolls. Friendly and Helpful players are upvoted and end up playing with other good folks.

Would anyone else like something like this in Dirty Bomb, if so click agree.

Honoring and reporting in league doesn’t change who you play with, but you can get banned temporarily for being a gigantic douche

And no this should not be in dirty bomb

It will just mean that anyone who has isn’t a top notch player will get downvoted. Seems like a bad system to me.

I’m more for leagues, like Starcraft has. You team up with and play against players of more or less the same skill level. If you do well, you are promoted to the next league.

Comp already has that. I do not want that in casual. The whole point of casual is to play with whoever for however long you want. Min level servers already solve some of the problem, we just need more tiers.

This will just get abused by all the salty twelvies. I’ve seen a lot of nice people get abused just for being better than other people and if this system got implemented, they would be stuck among the trolls.

(Gwarh) #6

Thats if/when the matchmaking for Dirtybomb works properly.

(Gwarh) #7

Damn this is a hard sell isn’t it :frowning:

Do you really think though, that there are that many trolls playing and so few good folks that would upvote someone?

I thought I was a pessimist but sheesh.

(watsyurdeal) #8

You’d be surprised how stupid or douchey people can be in games, especially when there’s no consequences.

I’m a level 30 player that goes super positive every single game in servers where barely anyone is double digit levels. So yeah, I could totally see this happening to me.

(noupperlobeman) #10

It’s a free to play game. Better get used to
having a garbage community.

(Gwarh) #11

This is the video I was referring to in my original post. It seemed like League of Legends had a really good idea.

Does anyone here play LoL and if so what is your experience with that “karma” system?

(Gwarh) #12

Egg Zactly!

I’m hoping for a system that rewards good behaviour and punishes bad behaviour.

(Ghosthree3) #13

I have played that game for something stupid like 5k hours and can tell you that unless the karma system was changed this year it’s pretty much pointless and serves to boost players egos or get them suspended.

(Gwarh) #14

I’ve read a little more about it over the course of the day and it seems a newer system went live around May this year. So it might have changed?

On Digital Paper it sounded like a good system, but I’ve no actual experience with it so I’m just guessing.

(Ghosthree3) #15

Yeah I stopped playing after last year since it was addictive and I didn’t like where it was heading anyway. Perhaps it is different now, I might look it up.

(Gestankfaust) #16

I don’t get what type of game you ppl think this is…

(Jojack) #17

I don’t think it would work, and I don’t think it’s really needed. I rarely see jerks in public servers. If there is one, he’s usually shamed by the majority of people in that particular server until he leaves. Then the rest of us have a good laugh and become friends.

(RuleofBooKz) #18

implementing upvote / downvote is a bad idea.

These systems are often Used (abused) to silence dissent or positive criticism. Or just end up sliding down into an awkward “popularity” contest which panders to the lowest common denominator of high 5 fist pumping bro culture

If you would’ve ever played it, you’d know this is a bad system.

“this player’s better than me *reported”
“this player fed their team, let me give him a sportsmanship vote”

I’ve been playing league ever since Draven came out and believe me, there is nothing beneficial about it.

Have you played many free multiplayer FPSs? Yes, there are that many trolls (aka “12 year olds with no adult supervision”)
Plenty of good folks too, but in my experience the children far outnumber the adults…
