Horrible fps

(derpyMoonMoon) #1

Yesterday, all of a sudden, I started getting 10 fps in game. My machine usually runs an even 60 fps with mid settings. The menu is still getting 60 fps, it’s just in game and in the lobby that I get 10 fps. It’s never happened before now, and makes the game unplayable. I tried resetting the configs, verifying cache integrity, and completely reinstalling the game. Any suggestions as to a fix? I couldn’t find an answer anywhere online.

@goodDeposit Have u tried any other games? Do any of the other games have similar issues? Have u tried doing a clean install of your video drivers? I I don’t know own if it’s still around but go to steam type In star swarm. It’s a it’s a free benchmark with amd mantle support but does directly as well. If u really wanna try to go a more heavier bench mark u could try furmark Wich is also free. Also I’download run memtest64 or Windows built in memtest I belive either hitting for on boot or use install Cd. Also while running dirtybomb or any bench mark I’d also download and run msi afterburner (it works with all gpu no mater the manufacturer). Msi afterburner will allow us to monitor the gpu Temps and log them it let’s u monitor all aspects of the gpu. I would us it to check for possibility of thermal throttling. Which can be an easy fix depending on what is causing it. Finaly if u know how to use could take out the gpu and put it back in to reset the connections.

Ps if it hasn’t been done yet or in a long time unplug your pc take it outside and take a can of compressed air and carefully clean off the heat sinks and air vents of the case . Do not use anything other than compressed air and don’t get too close to the Delicate parts It IS yrly maintenance.

This problem only happens with Dirty Bomb. I’ve ran a few stress tests and did a recent reinstall of my OS (about 2 weeks ago) and haven’t noticed any other problems. It may be my graphics driver however. I upgraded it to the new Radion settings from the old CCC. I’ve noticed a general performance boost with it, so I don’t want to have to downgrade it unless it’s a common incompatibility issue.

My computer isn’t in an area that really sees a lot of dust. I open it up every few months for one reason or another, and there’s never much dust so that’s not the problem.

I also thought that it was an issue with Bitdefender (which almost no game seems to like) so I switched to Kaspersky, but the issue persists.

PS: I also know none of my temperatures are above normal. I have my CPU overclocked slightly, so I always make sure both CPU and GPU are within normal ranges (normal for AMD that is).

Okay, problem solved!!!

Looks like there was some incompatibility problem that suddenly decided to show up in the Radeon settings. I can’t say which setting it was, so I just disabled all of them for DB. Running 60 fps again!

Glad to hear it. Amd does run hot but I’m on a full custom loop and I never hit more than around 60-65c
On full benchmark load.

Never had any issues with crimson drivers and I’m running the beta drivers that have Vulcan support.
