I liked the containment war update but I think there are some key things we need to help grow the game as a whole.
- Map making tools: The creation of dome took what a lot of alpha/beta players would say way to freakin’ long and the end result is a map that is too large. There is a way to speed up the process is by using the community. Let the players build maps and submit them to the dev team monthly or even every 2 months. The winner gets put into blockout for the community to test and then if Splash Damage likes the map you can take time to skin it with puddles or whatever you did for dome. Give the winner an incentive like exclusive map maker loud out cards or something for their hard work. I know several players started to learn Unreal dev kit 4 in hopes to submit maps and even have submitted them but that’s as far as it has gone.
- Renting servers: Please let me rent a server from you on subscription basis so I can turn on friendly fire.
- Trading Skins: I know on steam the micro-transactions between players is a huge money making opportunity for companies. Steam and the devs take a cut from each micro-transactions whether it’s a super over-priced gun skin in CS:GO or something small cosmetic item for unturned for 10 cents. Everyone makes money and is happy.
- Skin tools: I feel this one is explains it’s self but it is similar to map making tools. Have contests that are somewhat often with the community for making new skins for the mercs. There should be a winner picked by the community, the dev team and the publisher. From those winners add them to future updates in cases or elite cases. Just make sure to give the respected winners their designed skins and possibly some codes to give those skins to some friends.
- Community and Competition driven help from the devs and publisher: So, this one might get some push back but hell. It’s worth a shot. Once trading skins is possible and the micro transactions rack up from people buying their shiny loud outs they want. There needs to be a focus on making the game more competitive. This means a prize pool. If a portion of the micro transactions is taken and used in a prize pool for seasons/leagues/cups this can drive Dirty bomb to become more competitive. Companies like Riot games put up a giant prize pools of their own money every year for LoL and it has sparked a lot of competition within the game. Even if the prize pools are not massive it drives the game to be more competitive.
Months ago friendly fire was discussed in matchmaking. Two-thirds of the community wanted it added to match making. It was discussed as an option for people to have added to the game but there are no results yet. The competitive scene has friendly fire turned on and the match making system should have an option to mimic the competitive scene.
