Hopefully they give you a TF2 hat for this game

(hamstein) #1

This way the PC sales will almost triple. Lots of kiddies will buy the game for the hat; play it and hopefully it won’t suck, rather they enjoy it and the game does well.

I stopped playing shortly after the Manne co. Update where they added way too many weapons; most of which were fairly half assed. Though I’m sure some people still play it.

Nope after you left pretty much everyone stopped playing TF2.

I think it really would boost Brink’s sales. If they do this nearly TF2 player will be made aware of Brink AND have an extra incentive to buy it.

(tokamak) #3

That would be a much bigger incentive than those pre-order bonusses.

(Seyu) #4

How much money does Valve take from publishers for this?

Hat collecting TF2 nerds will be the first up in front of the firing squad when the revolution comes

I was hoping they;d be the first to convert when the revolution comes.

So you stopped playing TF2 because they added many weapons but you are going to play BRINK which has many more weapons/perks? Lolz.

That’s not what steam statistics are saying, it’s pretty much the same, it even grown a little bit (for the record, the peak of players online for TF2 at the same time today is 19K).

I think with Brink, since all the weapons are coming out “together” there won’t be the half assed feel to the weapons we received in the TF2 updates. There were just way too many, half didn’t even have kill icons (they may have added them in by now, but still).

I quit TF2 cause it seemed they were aiming for quantity rather than quality.

(tokamak) #9

Yeah TF2 succumbed to an overkill.

(Mustkunstn1k) #10

I wouldn’t pre-order Brink from Steam, but I do agree that it would definetly help the sales / awareness.

I don’t understand the TF2 whine tho. All weapons are still balanced, if they don’t fit your gameplay style… don’t use them.

Not that it’s important, but TF2 updates used to have a purpose - usually releasing a class update with weapons that created a different playstyle while still reflecting upon the class role and character theme. As time went on, I think especially after the Demoman update, and ESPECIALLY with all this hat nonsense going on, most updates have contained items that have done nothing for class roles (the Heavy Weapons Guy for example has about 5 or 6 melee weapons… why would he ever use those over his mini gun unless people were being stupid?) or have all but destroyed the games art/design style and characterisations (the demoman for example has also had a plethora of melee themed weapons, with no use of explosives… you know, as denoted by his class name).

So far the weapons in Brink seem to at least be purposeful. I mean, you could have only one pistol, shotgun, SMG assualt rifle and maybe a minigun or rocket launcher and call it a day, but the weapons in Brink seem to be varied enough and probably support body types in some way.

With the introduction of the Mann Co Store Valve started cashing in like crazy. Mostly everything they’ve introduced now has been community contributed work, and even then, some of the weapons are underpowered or overpowered. They create more bugs when pushing out updates than they fix.
And then, hats. We have 150 already. Hell, to give you people an idea, A SINGLE HAT, COSTS MORE THAN THE GAME ITSELF.

In short, TF2 is ****.

In BRINK, all the weapons have been thoroughly balanced, and the customization aspect of the game has been refined to the point where it’s in line with the game’s theme, unlike TF2, where you can put a pink, severed rabbit’s head as a hat on a fat, Russian, minigun carrying mercenary.

Because the hold a gun to your face and make you buy it. They have been releasing free content for years. And there was a great update just a few days ago: http://www.teamfortress.com/hatless/

Just click the link and look at it before you start saying anything…

So your whine is totally unjustified. None of the new weapons are really overpowered.

Wow, thats a lot of resentment for constant free updates and optional cosmetic content.

(tokamak) #15

That’s not really the problem. There’s just so many and they have such different effects that it becomes almost impossible to anticipate what the opponent is doing.

(Slade05) #16

Yea, hats sound like a win strategy.

(Senethro) #17

Why don’t you… uhhh… wait, I had it on a bit of paper here after people kept using it on this forum… oh yeah, “ADAPT OR DIE!!!” :smug:

You’re very inconsistent, considering your diatribes against dumbing down and griping over possibly not having enough tactical options in Brink.

(Mr. Magikarp) #18

I stopped playing TF2 because of two reasons: One, I think the game has lost a lot of its atmosphere going for it, thanks to all those new hats and weapons. (Here’s looking at you, Max Head)

The other reason is that the trading community is made up of greedy jerks.

so you traded your max’s head for a heavy duty rag and ragequit forever

(trigg3r) #20

if it provides a sales boost, why not?

i’d also wear my brink hat proudly in TF2
