Hollow Select

(reaply) #1

(I am new to mapping and so I do not know map talk) When you make a new “box”? and you make it hollow, can you select it after? And if so, how do you edit it? I can’t seem to edit it after it becomes hallow.

Imho after making the first box map, the hollow tool becomes useless. The hollow tool makes just normal brushes, so you should be able to treat them like any other brushes.

(reaply) #3

So, you are saying not to make it a hallow brush? If so what is another brush that makes the “box” solid?

(stealth6) #4

using hollow tool is fine, but once you have made it hollow, select each wall and move it outwards, so the sides don’t overlap anymore

and as sage said, the only thing the make ollow tool does isa splits a brush into 6 other brushes, so there should be no reason why you can’t move or edit them etc…

(reaply) #5

What tool do I use to edit the brushes? That’s the thing I do not understand.

clipper tool, and well there’s more… but reaply the 2 bit tutorial is prob one of the best on the net to learn from… follow this:

Oh well, it was shift click. Thanks Thunder xD.

EDIT: When I use the 3d view I lag ALOT and I mean ALOT. Am I the only one with this issue?

Hello,

surely not, normaly it depends on how many objects/brushes you have in your map, the more objects, the more “lag”, if that happens in Goldrush it’s normaly (i think even a HD 5970 isn’t able to manage that), but if it happens with just a few brushes, i would suggest something with your graficdriver is wrong.

If you have a poor computer i would consider turning the “cubic clip the camera view” function.
Should ease the pain for your computer.

I’m not too sure how I could lag with just this.

Hello,

your PC is OK, should work fine (could just be a bit more RAM), do you have the latest graficdriver for the 8600GT?

(stealth6) #12

maybe there is a leak somewhere? That makes you lagg

(reaply) #13

There is no leak I compiled it last week (last time I edited it) and I do have the latest driver for my 8600.
