Hmmmm...

ok, here is my problem. I finished my paintball map 2 weeks ago. Me and my friend were play testing it and it seemed small so I just made the “playing field” bigger and moved the 2 constructable towers to there new spots.

Everything was working fine. but now when I try and construct a tower. It dosen’t want to construct. What I mean is that when I start using my pliers, the “plier” on screen effect will go away soon and it seems to stop constructing as soon as it hits the buildstart final stage. I have deleted the tower and construction materials and remade em. No success. I have taken other peoples construction materials and scripts and it still dosen’t want to work.

I have my tower. A prefab tower I DL’d somewhere. it is a:

func_constructable

track: allied_t
scriptname: allied_tower
targetname: allied_tower
spawnflags: allied constructable

TOI: trigger texture
track: allied_t
scriptname: allied_tower_toi
targetname: allied_tower_toi
shortname: Allied Tower
target: allied_tower

clips/models: clip/wood texture misc_constructablemarker… OR… script_mover i get errors on both

targetname: allied_tower_materials
scriptname: allied_tower_materials

Scripting is right… It has to be since I have used 3 scripts from other maps and they work on there maps but not on mine…

Hate to say it…but I don’t know if anyone could diagnose anything wrong from that very very short amount of information.

Hmm, sounds like a weird one - how big is your TOI? Rememeber that players have to actually be overlapping or inside the TOI trigger brush to be able to construct. Make sure it is a reasonable amount larger than your construction items.

If that’s not the problem, then we could really do with seeing the script and maybe some scrrenshots from radiant and maybe one from ET to get a better idea of the trouble. It sounds to me like a script related error, but I can’t tell without seeing it.

Well, I finally did get it to work by using goldrush’s defense 2 construction materials and there script for the 3rd time. Then I changed everything to my scripting and it works… I think it was just I don’t want you to complete your map just yet kind of bug.

Whenever copying and pasting anything that is an entity…be sure that if it has an origin key that it is properly set or delete it and then add an origin brush to the entity.
(if the entity requires this kind of coupling)

I found that out on my first map that I made.
I always just delete the origin key totally so that there is no mistakes of trying to set it manually.
