Hint brushes

Ok, I read a lot of posts, tutorials etc… But I still have no idea how to use hint brushes in my map :(. Any ideas to help me understand hint brushes … since I have the feeling they are important :).

Anyone experts who wants to look at my new map (Desert Rats) in progress and just place a few hit brushes where needed and explain why you did so ?

Does merging terrain made by Easy gen helps improve fps ?

Still not getting it 100%.

And shouldnt struct. brushes block vis ? In my new map i have a fort with big huge wall around it, those brushes are struct. But I can still see the back of the for with /r_showtris 2 Is this correct ? Cause with other maps like oasis, it slowly build up what you can see.

Or is this because f the sky which connects em all together ? i saw on other sources they sometimes even have sky brushes in the middle of the map.

Would be nice after many bad fps maps to finally make a better one.
