Answer: Someone with no other job who is not easily bored, I guess.
Ranking - I hope not. There is already ranking for that competitive stuff.
It would be cool to be able to unlock some goodies at certain levels though, it could be a good enough reason for some people to play more, which is good for the game.

Yeah I’m 45 now. I’ve only seen one other 40+ player but I know he exploited around 15 levels. Couple of level 30+ people now though, aus is up and coming!

Judging by the way some of them play, I think a fair chunk of the 30+ used the exploit. Coincidence that the high lvl players that are bad have private profiles?

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of them had but I can’t say with certainty, unlike the other 40+ guy I know of that exploited because he told me so.

Levels really are starting to become meaningless. It’s more of a show off how long you play then necessarily how good you actually are. Many level 20s are trash, and some level 9s are excellent, so levels really aren’t helpful.
And as the game’s lifespan goes on, it’ll eventually reach a point where literally everyone is over level 50.

Tell me about it, I still haven’t really improved since single digit levels. Makes it super frustrating when I go toe to toe or even lose to a level 9 dude.

Umm… I just played in EU pub against outc1der. Level 66. He killed me twice, I killed him once

Outc1der still pubs but he/pkd quit competitively due to it being a team decision. They tried to play DB at a competitive level too hard too early and most of them, I’d guess, suffered burnout. Also, a couple of them apparently have had performance issues after the update that force muzzle flash and explosions to be on and weren’t happy about that.
It’s what happens in just about every game really. The early competitive people burn out and move on only to be replaced. Sometimes people come back.

I guess we’ll see in a couple of years if DB holds up. If SD keeps putting out content and supporting it well beyond just releasing the mercs then I could see it lasting.
But yeah, there are a lot of fairweather people who play games now. Hard to blame them when there is a lot of choice out there and they aren’t super picky like I am. DB scratches and itch that I’ve had for nearly a decade which means I’ll be playing it for quite some time personally. But not everyone is me.
