Proxy has her Axe behind her back too.
Hidden Melee Weapon
Ugh, so did Proxy go around bunnyhoping while hacking people with the Axe in Closed Beta?
“Sawbones” is a nickname given to combat surgeons, its origins can be traced back to pre-WWI or even to the dark ages, when medical practice wasnt good enough to combat infections or easily heal major wounds.
Before the invention of antibiotics and new methods to fix heavy bleeding came around, the absolute best way to save a soldier with an infected limb/heavy bleeding was to apply a tourniquet and saw off the poor bastards limb to save his life.
“OH SHIT, TOM IS BLEEDING TOO MUCH, MEDIC COME SAW BONES”
Sawbones.
That’s really interesting to know, thank you sir.

No, Her default weapon was and is the Cricket Bat, like how Phantom’s was the Katana, Redeye’s was the Kukri, Vasilli’s and Aimee’s was the Stiletto and everyone else the Beckhill before the introduction of loadout card system where characters gain access to the default Primary, Secondary and Melee weapons of other mercs.
People just don’t really bat (no pun intended) an eye at everyone else using it because the game is set in England, stands out the most whe one finishes off or melee kills someone since her lines even have her say “bat-attack!” or “playball!”.
She does however have a hatchet on her toolbelt right behind her back and one can find a weapon called “tomahawk_01” in the game files.
@Ford_Prefect
Like Ballto said it had less to do with severity of the wounds but more due to the lack of antibiotics, the term became more common during the revolutionary war and civil war eras. Due to lack of rifling, crudely designed unareodynamic musket balls and later miniballs moved so much slower than modern rounds but were much larger calibre, that made the musketballs and miniballs able to pierce through someone and maybe even hit a couple of people behind them.
This brought in debris (clothing, flesh, bone, etc.) from the person infront to the person behind them rather than cutting much “cleaner” through them, like modern copper coated rounds fired from a rifled barrel.
Due to lack of antibiotics wounds would infect in no time and the best thing to do was simply to cut the limb off before the infection spread and even that was bad since the surgical equipment sometimes wouldn’t even be sterile, especially since some doctors liked fancier wooded, bone and ivory handled bonesaws, which were magnets for germs.

@CCP115 Nope, there is a game file for the throwing knifes aswell.
@Rjsto Couldn’t have been me, I haven’t been on all day, I never T-bag or use Thunder.

Oh, well I guess that’s good, you didn’t see me failing as Vassili then!
there are a few hidden weapons in the dirty bomb folder that we cant access like tomahawk, throwing knives and rocket launcher(assuming javelin is coming soon)
@Xavien
Was there an actual difference between throwing knives and tomahawks?
Tomahawks was never implemented into the game . And obviously throwing knives can be thrown , while tomahawk could be a pure melee based weapon .
Would you just stand still for a moment while I amputate your moh’fuggin arm? Thanks.
@Xavien Like Arjun said, The tomahawks aren’t available but they might be in the future a weapon, seeing how many mercs obviously have the beckhill on them, even Phantom has one on his hip while his default was the Katana, I was guessing that even though Proxy’s default weapon is the cricket bat, she has a hatchet visible on her hip.
Throwing knives were replaced by Quickslash.
When one had throwing knives they would carry around the knife and could toss it in a straight line, I swear they were even hitscan and had weren’t by gravity.
You couldn’t stab or slash anymore, just toss it and a minor zoom in with the knife the knives did awful damage, around 50 I believe, but trying to even score a hit was almost impossible.
The players could toss two knives, but they were on a cooldown like that of an ability but with no visible timer on them, until you could finally equip your melee weapon or your quick slash would finally work. Their mean possible benefits was that one could toss a knife at a downed enemy, rather than walking up to and stabbing them, which could’ve been done with just a gun.
Here is a video of someone messing around with them, the reason why they’ve got a timer on them is because the player had replaced them with Proxy’s mine rather than a primary weapon and are using the timer on Proxy’s mines, If they’ve used Sawbonez for example, the knives would recharge instantly as it would work on the Defib’s recharge rate, which is instant.
@Redcap Yea I’ve seen that video and I’ve heard some of the things you said. Honestly I feel like it could be something fun to use in a game mode as throwing knives honestly really isn’t applicable in-game in fast paced battles.
