Hi New mapper here. Please Help Me With Easy Question :)
Here you should find some answers:
http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface/tutorials/easygen.html
There are some other links at the bottom.
1.) “c:\path to et\etmain”
The textures of W: ET are in the “pak0.pk3” in the “etmain”-directory.
Just unzip this file with folder names to the etmain directory.
You should have then directories like “etmain/textures/…” for example.
In the program list, select winzip or winrar. A pk3 is a zip with changed extension, and u can open it with those programs
That’s normal. When you use EasyGen to create a terrain, it will show up as “terrain” in GTKRadiant. But, when you test your map in Wolfenstein ET you should see the correct textures. Just remember to include the .pcx file EasyGen created in etmain/maps and the .shader file in etmain/scripts.
EDIT: Whoops, NullSkillZ is right, you need to put the .pcx file in “etmain”, not “maps”.
The pcx has to be in etmain.
And you have to add the .shader to the shaderlist.txt in the scripts directory.
I have had a few similar problems. Easygen wont show any textures for me, even though the pathnames are correct.
While im asking is it possible to move vertices in Easygen? or should i just do that in GTK when im done with easygen
I think it’s not possible to move vertices in Easygen.
To show textures in Easygen you have to use:
Textures menu -> Add folder
Then you should be in the “etmain/textures”-directory.
Then choose a directory of which you will use textures (for first tries take a look at the temperate_sd-folder).
yeah i got that working now thanks. I also realised hot to move verticies in Easygen - go to Mod and select none. Then ctrl+shift+left click drag (or some combo of that sort) and that move the vertex up or down (i think its only up and down, it has this weird thing of you move mouse up screen and it will get higher, whatever your camera angle is at)
the folder your working in, obviously your not working on a mod so its <ETdirectory>\etmain
2.What do I put where it says Alpha Map? And what do I put where it says Metashader? Also what do I put where it says Textures/__________/Terrain?
where ever you want, its where the textures will be saved, something like benfun would do or the name of your map
e.g. iron_factory
3.What gos where it says Shader Top: and bottom, sides:?
where the hell dose it say this?
4.One last thing. Where are my textures? Like when I go to Textures> Add Folder?
see quesion 1
it dosn’t move to the sides, terrain in Q3 is usually made of triangles, because you can shape them to whatever you want, if you used a shape like a hexagon you would have much less freedom and only be able to bend terrain over outwards because of how Q3 uses brushes
