Heyyy - Brink lookin good

I’m just another writer with some modders of another Bethsoft game so I arrived here without any idea what Brink was - impressed with the presentation and have hopes that you will make your mark!

The real question is: Will Brink be moddable?

SD wants it to be moddable but it’s not their own engine so they need approval first.

Great to see there are some excited modders already.

Happy Launch-day Tokky and the guys!

Well what I have done is post a thread on our website to see if our community is interested - but that will be moot until we now more about the game and the set-up.

Too bad there is no construction set already in place - but again the level of interest in modding it will depend on where this game is going and the nature of the content.

The great thing about a Construction Set is that it gives people who are new to the creative side of things a way in - and permits modding without the need for messing with the Game Engine - that’s to say content modding.

If people like the game enough there will be those perfectly capable of modding the code, the game Engine and everything else - and they will just go ahead and do it no matter what.

But to encourage a large community take into account that Modders are Dreamers (so there has to be more than a shooty game engine before a large community really gets involved) and to inspire that requires in-game content that a modder can take somewheres himself.

Bethsoft achieved that through in-game ‘books’ and the provision of a ‘free’ construction set - something that I think every dev company that wants to see their game/s modded should take note of.

Forgive my rant

Seeing as Splash Damage used to be a modteam themselfs, I am sure the game will be good to mod.

I liked Locki’s comment of (paraphrasing because I can’t remember the exact quote)
“I can’t just turn around and say to my mate, ‘Is it alright if we release the source code for Brink?’”

But as already said above, SD are definately keen to get and SDK out there
And will if they can, let’s just hope it’s in good time
