!!!!HELP!!!!

(The real Billster) #1

1 How do you make models? Everytime I try to make a model(misc, misc model)it show up in a little wire box that just is wires.

2How do you make stairs? do you just put a bunch of brushes together or is it a model?

3How do you make windows?

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You need to edit the path and delete everything left of model so your link would be model/mabobject/blahblahblah

  2. Yes. Multiple brushes. Just copy paste.

  3. Fake windows are textures with light added to them, real windows are brushes made to look like windows

Ha! I had the same problem, thanks. Now I have the models, but I says: “Shader not found”. Pak0.pk3 is unpacked, though.

Is there an easy way of making the stair rail or do I just have to fiddle around with free rotation until it is perfect

(Chis) #5

I’ve heard using free rotation can lead to problems getting everything to line up perfectly. It’s better to keep things snapped to the grid. For something like a railing I’d use the edge tool.

Make a brush in the 2d XY the size of the railing you want, lined up with the top of the stairs. Then ctrl-tab into 2d XZ(or YZ) plane and hit the ‘e’ key. Now left-click and drag the blue dots around till it looks like a railing.

Are you trying to model a crate? Some models have .skins attached to them. you need a skin key and a value of models/mapobjects/blah/blah.skin to point where ever the skin file is.

Then you need a targetname for the model for the skin to work.

(Black Death) #8

Well, I’m trying to place construction crates, yes. They all have a skin, but not a targetname, will try that.

(Black Death) #9

Sow, I have a model, a skin value and a targetname. Still shader not found, altought the .skin file is in the dir. And yes, I deleted the C:/program files blabla until /models.

Does your model set-up look like this?
