Help with Radiant 1.5.0

(Montgomery) #1

Hello everyone,

I’m learning about mapping, using GtkRadiant 1.5 (the latest version) and this tutorial (http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface/tutorials/first_room.html). In this tutorial they say I should place an ‘info_player_start’ slightly above the floor… the problem is I cant find that option in the menu. info_player_deathmatch and info_player_intermission are both there, but not start.

Its essential that I place it, right? I dont want players to get stuck in the floor . What can I do? Install Radiant 1.4? I saw on google some other options are missing too…

Thanks for your attention,

Montgomery

That 'info_player_start" is actually info_player_deatmatch.

And you can place it where you want to…Where you’ll place it, there you will see as spectator.

Thanks Pray-N-Spray.

Its the very beginning but for me it is confusing they make tutorials with terms that are not the same in Gradiant, while they recommend to use it.

If I have other probs that are not discussed yet I will post em here

use these tutorials. The only ones I really found to do me any good when I was first learning mapping.

2bits tutorials are really great! WolfensteinX is cool as well.

I recommend also http://tramdesign.planetwolfenstein.gamespy.com/tutorials

There is also one tutorial that I wrote

is it possible to choose all brushes of one entitie in GTKradiant 1.5?
like in 1.4 with shift+alt+click in 3d-view?

(murka) #8

i think i remember this one…
was it select one brush and shift + e or similar(takes more time than 1.4)

(-SSF-Sage) #9

CTRL+ALT+E. Fast.

Faster than what I used to do; go to entity list, select the first and last brush and press shift.

thanks for help
but why the hell wasn’t it made normal shortcut list for 1.5… :frowning:

(-SSF-Sage) #11

I found that shortcut from the shortcut list…

ExpandSelectionToEntities ALT + Control + E

Oh yeah it says alt+ctrl, but ctrl+alt is faster to do imo. :stroggbanana:

I had the same problem after installing Gtk 1.5… somehow the new method to select all brushes of an entity sucks. I liked the old 1.4 method better.

In general I have the feeling that Gtk 1.5 got worse than better! For example I don’t know how to select multiple brush faces… then the texture I selected is not in selected in the texture browser and the texture browser lost the really really useful search field. Texture lock is off by default so when you move a brush it loses the texture coordinates. Pahh… I’m too lazy to uninstall 1.5, but in general it got worse and development has stopped from what I read on the qeradiant website.
