Hello there! I am new to modding Enemy Territory, and i am having a small problem with ET crashing when trying to open the limbo menu. I’ve searched this forum, tried a few things, but my efforts so far have been in vain, here is the map file: http://catsdorule.torpedobird.com/tmp/ET/training.map
Someone help me here as I have tried all that I have researched.
Help with crashing limbo menu.
You haven’t researched nearly hard enough. I’d say this problem arises around once every week. Try going to page 2 or 3 of the Level Design forums.
Try searching for these things: mapcoordsmins/mapcoordsmaxs
I don’t feel like explaining right now because it’s late, but someone generous might offer a hand.
EDIT: This is one of the most obvious problems that at least half of new ET mappers have trouble with. I’ll give you a link.
I’m sorry to have caused you so much pain, I know what it is like to deal with new people in the subjects that I am experianced in…
The problem with the mapcoordsmins/maxs is that it IS a multiple of two, and it IS a perfect square, and it is outside of everything (i changed all the numbers to “2688” after).
I also placed it in the directory of a fresh install to no success.
I read alot of the threads in the sticky above to no success.
I do have a team wolf objective in very close proximity to the spawn points (with the correct keys) .
I am just stumped, any fresh ideas would be grand.
What exactly are your mapcoordsmins/mapcoordsmaxs? If you have a , or double space it won’t work.
Try these:
mapcoordsmins -5000 5000
mapcoordsmaxs 5000 -5000
It works on a Cartesian graph. So you need to include have negative signs in the right places.
Here are a couple questions to ask yourself to see if a map works:
- Do I have an Allied and an Axis spawn?
- Do I have info_player_deathmatch?
- Is my map enclosed so it won’t leak?
- Are my mapcoords set right?
If you have addressed all those questions your map should run properly. You don’t need to have any other entities like objectives or spawnflags.
You’ve typed “mapcoordsminss” (double s at the end).
Must be “mapcoordsmins” (single s at the end).
Constructive as ever oxygen
Just try setting the co-ordinates very low at the moment, I don’t know why but I had a huge map and the co-ordinates got stuck after they went above 5000 i seem to remember.
Yes, you must make sure that you type in the keys and values correctly as Noobinator has them set out.
