Help a noob out

Sentries, how do they work?
Why don’t they instantly shoot enemies on sight? I constantly see enemies running up to, or right by sentries without the sentry shooting them. I also do the same, I run right by or up to enemy sentries sometimes and they don’t even notice my presence.

How do you max out the buff bar?
I’m talking about the pips right above the abilities icons on the HUD. I usually start of with a few, then randomly during the match I am given more.

They do work, they just need some time to lock on. Give them medium range, hide them well and get them to face the back of where the enemy are attacking or facing the enemy with enough distraction

They scan a limited range and the person basically has to stand still or run right infront of it to get it to lock on but once it does it can 360 follow them.

the turrets in brink scan left and right at a 45 degree angle. if they scan across anyone, they will target them for a full 360 degrees until either the turret dies, the target dies, or the target moves out of sight.

Put turrets in key locations and think in terms of angles so you are not putting them in obvious places or in open spaces. Obscure the line of sight to it. Turrets are slow to react and more of a deterrent and fail safe. So put them in niches, below starts, under walkways, behind glass, etc.

Also you get pips from a medic buffing you the hardened ability and capturing health command posts.

That is weird, I just tried to capture a health command post and my pips didn’t increase? Also, I already have the hardened ability, so that won’t affect me, unless you’re saying I must be buffed by a fellow medic with that ability?. I start the game off with 6 pips, the bar seems to fit about 9 pips. Once in a while during a match I randomly see I gain a pip or two out of nowhere and am not sure how it happened. I am Level 24 if that matters?

The supply command post is what gives you the pips you’re referring to. He thought you meant how the health command post increases your life “pips”.

That seems to be right, as I joined a server that had the command post captured already and I was at 7 bars instead of the default 6. How do I get 8 & 9 to max out the bar, or is that even possible?

You need a Medic to buff you and have Double Buff Ability.

Improved Increase Supplies (Medic-only ability) + Upgrade Supply Command Post gives you the maximum supply pips possible for a player, whatever total that may be.

Ok the health topic :slight_smile:

Basics first:
Lights have 120HP, mediums 140 and Heavies 180.

You can have up to 5 bonus pips. The first gives 35HP, then 30, 25, 20 and the last 15, altogether 125 worth. So a light can have a maximum of 245, a medium 265 and a heavy 285.

So to your question:
You can get one pip by the “battle hardnend ability”.
Medics can buff you another one, with “improved life buff” even two.
The health command post gives one more and if an engineer with the upgrade ability upgrades it, it gives you anotherone.

So you always can get one by your abilities and on most map stages one from capturing a health commandpost. For the other 3 you need medics and engineers in your team :slight_smile:

You see, an upgraded health command post can really turn the tide when a team gets dominated.
(Guess thats why the bots were so eager about them. They knew more about the game then most of us:tongue:)

Keep em dropping!

PS: The supply command posts are vital too as they enable your team to buff more and use more grenades…

I think people have me confused, or maybe I worded it wrong. I’m asking about the buff pips:

Is it possible to max out this bar with 9 pips?

Ok base value is 3. With a universal ability everyone gets his 4th.

Medics can learn increased supplies and improved increase supplies for a 5th and 6th.

Now the actual part you were asking for:tongue:
Supply command posts give all your team members another pip, so medics get their 7th.
Now if an engineer with the upgrade ability upgrades the supply command post you get the 8th and final pip.

9th seems to be reserved for another expansion. Cant be reached atm.
