There’s a Katana with each smg. I grabbed the Crotzni one with Katana, I fucking hate the Kek, can’t use it at all. Blish loadout is incredible too.
Depends how fast the Phantom is moving, and yes, if you charge directly at someone you will be seen. But they might not see you if you move slowly in the corner of their vision.
what i crafted http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=477129799 big luck
Some quick Phantom gameplay I threw together from my first few matches.
I think after played him that there is 2 things needed to be change on this merc. first, he should got 80 or 90 hp, not 120 as Skyhammer got, 2nd, he dont had to have a weapon, and more than this, he didnt need a Kek-10… Its ridiculous. SD here just want to sell us a gameplay by showing us that merc can be play has all others. I think that Phantom could just have 90hp, no primary weapon, and a little less range. Its too easy to do multikill with only one katana cut.
Actually the change I want to see most for him right now is that the heavy strike attack of the Katana needs to be harder to hit. Right now you get like a full half second where it’s swung down that it will deal damage to anything it connects to. Adding that to its range and speed and it’s pretty much impossible NOT to hit it.
So in other words it acts like a real sword?
What’s the problem???
It’s risk/reward is too good? It’s a guaranteed hit, that’s how easy it is. It’s not “pretty likely”, it’s actually 100% guaranteed you’ll hit your target unless you flip out.
But it’s a melee weapon, and the cloak from my understanding isn’t that hard to pick out up close. Plus, there’s this post
Just to shut down any person who decides to whine about the katana and say it is OP:
Katana is slower than all other melee weapons.
Every single melee weapon requires 2+ hits to kill 110+ HP mercs even with chopper.
Combat knife and cricket bat deal 80 damage on a heavy swing. 96 with chopper.
Stiletto dealt 90 damage previously (exact same amount as the katana does now) but was nerfed to 85 this patch. 108 with chopper previously now around 102.
The katana deals 90 on a heavy swing which is 108 with chopper and 60 on a fast swing or 72 with chopper. It can not 1 shot any more mercs than any of the other weapons.
The only benefit it has over other melee weapons now in TTK or STK is that it can 1 hit 90 HP mercs without having to use chopper. So if you feel being able to 1 hit 90 HP mercs without using chopper is OP, I would like to know why you didn’t whine about the pre patch stiletto since that could 1 hit 90 HP mercs for many months too.
Since the katana is slower than all the other melee weapons it is actually worse (on paper and in most practical purposes) vs any class with 110 or more HP. Why? Because you take that extra little bit of time to get in the 2nd swing to kill the enemy and that extra time can make all the difference.

Plus, the Katana is kinda like the second ability of Phantom, it’s his signature.
I think it’s far too early to call him op, at least let people figure out how to deal with him first before we start making some changes.
I’m not calling him OP overall, in fact I don’t mind him. But I do think it’s far too easy to sit at a corner and hit up to 3 people in a single heavy swing for free.
If the enemy team is letting him get away with that then that’s their fault, not the weapon.
I mean, if I can get behind the enemy and shotgun 3 people without having to reload, does that mean shotguns need to be changed? It happens more often than you think.
Eh, you wait until you see him come around a corner and long jump while cloaked - to absorb damage - and land an easy heavy on you. I’ve yet to fail to kill a light merc this way. The timing is just too generous.
Sounds like to me the cloak is the issue, not the sword.
You wouldn’t be able to get the damage dealt so easily if cloak didn’t act as basically a second health meter.
The thing is I’ve dealt with Aura’s running around and knifing people as well. And since it’s so uncommon I usually die, this sort of thing is further exploited now since Phantom has sword. People aren’t used to fighting someone coming at them with a melee weapon, and I don’t think that’s the first thing that should be dealt with. To me it makes zero sense for cloak to be a shield for taking damage rather than a tool to get behind enemy lines and make a clutch pick.
Considering how defense is in this game, and how there’s so many tools now to help on defensive holds, a character like Phantom would be great. But the way he’s being used atm seems to just be more like the demo knight in TF2.
Yea the frames where the heavy attack actually does damage is way too long. The initial windup of the animation is pretty long and requires you to setup attacks, but you can basically run into people or fix your aim if you miss and still hit people once the attack already goes off.
There’s 2 examples in my vid alone where this happens at 1:36 and 1:49. You can basically just flail around and guarantee a hit if you’re close enough.
