Headshot Gibbing

Hello all, I have come to express my opinion on head-shots being able to gib. I do believe that weapons such as the Felix or the MoA should insta gib on a head shot. I do not feel like it should be for all weapons usable by the sniper but the ones that require a longer period between shots such as the 2 I listed in my eyes should insta gib.

I think the current balance of the insta gib HS of the FEL-IX and MoA is just right. It was removed previously because lower HP mercs don’t stand a chance of being revived if they get one shotted. Then they brought it back… I just couldn’t remember the exact reason on how the balance was struck.

They didn’t bring it back. It’s just if a merc’s already damaged, the bullet’s damage would eat past the player’s health level into the negative health count, then you would instagib. Otherwise no, and also snipers have also had their jumpsnipe nerfed as well.

snipers are already considered extremely strong in competitive. **Going back **to instagib would only make matters worse.

It used to be like that in the past : snipers were utterly overpowered in competition (much more than they currently are I mean). You just had to headshot anyone, and the fight turns into a 4vs5. I definitely don’t want to go back. Decent Snipers are already enough of a pain.

If I remember correctly, you had to shoot twice to gib someone instead of once which balanced it out a bit. Also this was before Sparks, so there was ET-style revive protection.

Snipers have always been overpowered, but perhaps one idea could be that headshots would gib again and you would need 2 shots to finish a target on ground, to reward headshots? Perhaps it wouldn’t fix anything, or maybe make things even worse.

I don’t want instagib back, snipers are already frustrating enough without making a medic’s existence pointless.
