HE charge team bleed loses XP

If youre at the point where XP dont matter anymore, you are already in the game.

XP are a mechanism for rewarding (mostly) new players if they do something right. Therefore its very wrong to punish them for doing an HE objective correctly. Its just a wrong sign for doing the obviously right!

Think of the new players that we want to stay

Standard mode is for new players still getting accustomed to the game, and thus it has no friendly fire, which solves the problem of the “new players” getting punished for other players being near the HE charge. Plus, if a player quits a game permanently because they lose 200-300 exp from a friendly fire HE charge, I don’t think FPS games are for them anyways, at least not Brink.

You make it sound like you lose much more experience than you actually do as well, as I get anywhere from 5,000-20,000 exp a match, making 300 exp ~5% or less of my total exp for any given match. If 300 exp to you really is 10%-20% of your total exp per match, maybe you should think about playing on standard mode until you’ve honed your skills enough to at least get a decent score in online matches, since if you are scoring that low, chances are you aren’t helping the team all that much in accomplishing objectives for a map.

Great example for wrong assumptions. Only because something is “designed” for someone doesnt make him actually use it. You cant force your choices on the mind of others. Especially not gamers. How many tutorials did you watch, that the game designers meant you to see and how many did you skip, because “you knew it anyway” or whatever reason?

Possibly we are talking different plattforms, so Ill take it to the PC now. If I open the server browser I filter for ping and player count (x of 16 so its not a bot match). So whats left are the few servers that are actually playable in terms of lag and human players and I really dont care for any further filtering and try to join. And actually I cant afford to look further because there are not many servers left. While I talk here for myself, I dare to say that most other people would do it in a similar manner to find a populated game. Be it players new to brink or be it regulars or any other in between.

I dare to say that most dont care for any gamemode that was designed for “them”. Often simply because they dont even know its there! Or what ever other reason.

Oh and guess what made me post this thread over a month ago? Actual experience. I was in TS with two guys and one got a plant done. Next thing he said, was that hes looking forward to get punished because all the idiots will be jumping infront of his charge. And hes completely right! Not about calling others idiots but not being rewarded for bringing the team a large step further in the right direction. Thats why I came to the forum and wanted to point out, what I think is bad game design.

These guys both stopped playing brink already and I wont say that its due to that. Mostly due to some other bugs like the unhittable croucher (where he was told it must have been adrenalin in the forum…). But such flaws add up to the point where people are fed up, and a lot of the buyer are fed up and quitted.

Heres one thing pointed out that could be fixed and it would be great to see an attitude by the community other then “gtfo UR not 1337 enough for this”. Brink cant afford that anymore. Sadly.
