The following maps take me to a point of where I don’t even want to try.
Old Town - The main problem with this map is their is no safe spot on the objective and you can not reach the opposing team snipers without dying. I understand that you may have wanted a sniper favored map, which is fine, except that it’s impossible to 5 cap the objective and it’s also impossible to snipe their snipers and ultimately it turns into a massive stalemate until someone gets bored and decides to suicide onto the objective. Surprisingly the map is a lot of fun if both teams do not have a sniper.
Constructive criticism - Remove the ability to arty strike/snipe the person in the objective when they’re hiding behind the panels. This will force the opposing team to actually react and capture the objective (the point of the game.)
Favela - Whoever goes first wins on this map. Especially if you have Ivan/Gus or Famous Daves or Kate/MaDame on your team. You spawn, run to the choke or if you got skinny’s past the choke. You then lock them in their spawn and the game is over.
Constructive criticism - Fix the choke or fix the spawn so the person going second can have a chance when he gets locked in his spawn.
Beach - This map I want to like it but I can’t. This map is another stalemate for me. I never want to move any where near the objective because you can arty’d out from almost anywhere past your car and killed in 1 turn. I’m not really sure how to make this map better because it looks good and it looks like it should work but it just doesn’t for me. I often find myself just sitting undercover until my opponent makes a bad move and I wipe him out but that’s lame.
Constructive criticism - Add some sort of cover in the objective so their is a reason to capture it. It’s so open and you can shoot all inside of it while under cover and you have no way to retaliate.
I have won a lot of matches from take and hold conditions but since the release of these 3 maps, I have yet to take and hold a win or even get more than 3 blocks because I either die trying to cap or wipe out the other team within a few turns (unless it’s a 13+ turn stalemate.)
The good maps imo are construction and I think it’s called Centro. Both of those maps seem well balanced and it’s actually possible to capture the objective. I’m really starting to love construction it’s an excellent map with the way you can pinch people, capture the objective, and have healthy fun long range + short range battles.
Just thought I would give you some feed back on those new maps. Right now I just surrender on Favela if I get spawn locked or suicide on Old Town if the enemy just sits 5 squares out of his spawn waiting for me to move into Arty range. It is possible to have a good game on beach but I almost always find myself getting inpatient and running to the objective like both teams are supposed to be doing just so I can end the stalemate.
