Have you ever had your hype killed?

i remember getting hyped for battlefield 3 and assassins creed 3. mind you this was back before i could buy stuff cuz i didnt have a credit card. for some reason the day they released i just stopped watching trailers like two or three times every week. i didnt even look up reviews, i just suddenly felt a little…sick? down? i didnt have good feelings when i thought about them.

played battlefield 1 beta. thought it was a chaotic mess. more like COD with bigger maps, vehicles and some support abilities.
played assassins creed 3. game is good outside of occasionally clunky parkour system and a protagonist so boring he didnt even have emotion in his voice. boats were awesome and led me to get black flag
if you want a parkour game, play Dying Light.
8/10 game for me since it hits all the right spot.
(running-climbing mechanic is pretty solid)

running around on an errand at night never been so tense.

i thought BF3 and 4 are pretty good? i mean i bought BF4 after been fully patched and it was nothing like the initial broken launch. (also, Still being supported so might as well buy it)
beat the game twice, once when i pirated it several years ago and again when i bought it a while ago. also the following DLC. decided to fistfight the final boss.

Yoooka Layle is just around the corner, and oh boy, my hype has been tampered…

Not that I care over obsolete review scores, but the whole JonTron fiasco plus mixed reactions…

Seriously, what the hell’s with Kickstarter games. is it some unwritten curse?

(CyberVonCyberus) #24

to be honest i don’t trust critics reviews, after all they are the ones who give a 97/100 to every single COD game

(HunterAssassin5) #25

@GatoCommodore yeah, its the DLC with the cars. surprised someone who would recommend Dyling Light wouldnt know about The Following is kinda surprising.

btw, another good game with parkour as a pretty central element is Titanfall 2

I was hyped like a motherclucker for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 PC release to sadly realize;

THERE IS NO FUCKING MOUSE SUPPORT

The game runs quite smooth on 4K tho so its not in vain lul

When i eat at a new resteraunt and leave thinking food was meh nothing special

(watsyurdeal) #30

Honestly, Call of Duty Ghosts I was looking forward to. Modern Warfare was pretty damn fun, and I was expecting that…God it was bad, fucking atrociously optimized and it was fucking RAW, er, it was bland and boring as fuck.

(HunterAssassin5) #31

speaking of ghosts, i watched a playthrough of the campaign on youtube…i dont know why i did that…

god damn, assassins creed had more stealth than ghosts did

i dont really like when the game becomes too “Handholdey” and they even try to tell us the story like we are kids or something

hell, the guns in Ghost arent even interesting.

My hype for adulthood got killed when I entered high school.

(GatoCommodore) #34

i got hyped for having my first job right after i finished highschool.

then i got stuck to the job and felt lazy to continue to go to college because money feels good.

(AlbinMatt) #35

@GatoCommodore Now you browse memes and play games.

(GatoCommodore) #36

well not really, i finished college, get a better job and now im too lazy because i need to move every 3-6 months because my works ask for it.

but the money is good tho.

memes and games are my favourite pastimes

(Boory Marks) #37

Hopefully I will not have to put Dockyard on this list

(GatoCommodore) #38

its been going for too long the hype is already ded
but lets see when we its released…

(TheStrangerous) #39

I gotta say, nostalgia is a double edged sword.

50/50 whether something is as good, or not as good as you remember.

This happened to me with Red Dead Redemption, upon watching walkthrough vids. I like the setting, atmosphere story, however the gameplay has aged badly…
Too much padding, typical sandbox style, getting from point A to point B. And the cover based gunfight are terribly slow. I mean, we’re playing as a cowboy and we can’t go out in the open and run and gun?!

Yeah, the whole concept of glueing yourself to cover discourages me greatly… What’s wrong with crouching? Better yet, wish Third Person Shooters were more like Max Payne or Stranglehold. Heck, even FPS like “Sword with Sauce” is more John Woo than majority of Third Person Shooters these days.

(GatoCommodore) #40

@TheStrangerous

there are many sandbox games

but sleeping dogs is one i really like

when was the last time you play as kick ass kung fu master that can do John Woo jumping over table while shooting?
