Have anyone ase importer for 3dsmax ? I have version 7 .
Or you are using gothic asc importer ( require rename ase model on asc)

There is a ASCII (ASE) import plugin available for 3dmax, but unfortunally it was designed for the 3dmax4 release…
Although this plugin still works with 3dmax5, It doesn’t work for 3dmax6,7,8 and 9

Atm I’m using 3dmax9 and for importing ase models i’m using the gothic asc importer that you mentioned in your post.

The major problem with this asc importer is that it loses all texture paths/ info once you imported it into 3dmax. :frowning:

If I remember correctly some of the ID next gen games like doom3 & quake 4 still had some stock ASE models? or at least you could import them in a custom map. So it is kinda strange that there isn’t any ase import pluging for 3dmax after these games got released…

A bit of topic, but does anyone know what SD is using for the static & animated models for quake wars? I guess it would be lightwave for static models and the md5 format for animated , just like in doom3 / quake4?

Q: What extensions will be supported for map objects? Will there be additional support for different extensions?
A: The engine will still support .ASE .OBJ and .LWO
