Hate to ask this but, which merc next ?

(yenku) #1

Ok guys, I might need your help.

The mercs I don’t own are:
Kira, Phantom, Redeye, Rhino, Thunder

I play quite always with: Fletcher/Bushwhacker, Stoker/Arty/Nader, a medic…

I don’t feel the need to buy a new merc but…, excluding Rhino, which merc do you think could be a good add and why??

Again sorry for the redundant question. Thanks

You said it yourself… you don’t feel the need to buy a new merc, so don’t?

We don’t know AHEM turtle AHEM

If you like playing Arty then Kira is a faster version with less spammable but more fun ability.

I wouldn’t buy anyone else from your list without trying them on rotation.

phantoms fun and really good if you can get used to the cloak.

honestly, he feels a lot like planetsides infiltrator because the cloak is pretty much the same but better because it absorbs damage too, but when you learn how to work around the visibility aspect hes borderline op

Rhino.

I barely play Thunder because of god-awful spread on his MG (MK46 was the main reason I bought him in the first place) and lacking (compared to Frag) Concussive nade.

Phantom is fun and potentially useful addition to roster, that is, if you learn to use katana less and primary more.

Redeye’s primary is a beast in need of taming - like more powerful but less forgiving version of Dreiss. Smoke on other hand has multiple tactical uses and makes you feel like Sam Fisher no less.

Kira is going to be my next (and probably last) merc purchase before Turtle, because remaining 4 (Bush, Nader, Phoenix, Rhino) I never use and/or deeply despise (Rhino and Nader, UGH).

Rhino is useless on competitive and it’s boring, completely different from what Dirty Bomb is, which is movement, good aim, and skill.

I would go Kira, she’s awesome, really fast, can deal tons of damage, support your team mates, and take care of the EV and enemy defenses.

TLDR: She’s OP if you’re a good player, like Fletcher or Sparks.

(watsyurdeal) #10

Out of those Phantom is the most fun, just a little difficult because his cloak is a tricky thing to use, and against good players it’s pretty useless imo.

(darlingClaymore) #11

Redeye can be fun, for surprise attacks or holding down a corner yourself.

Kira and Redeye, I have a very good times with both

Try to Top-score as Rhino on Attackers. If you can do it all the time, you can call Rhino skillless
.

…and for crazy melee inside smoke, he even has card for that, with chopper and fast slash.

Thank you all, got Kira
Will not be easy to control the laser…

Kira is super fun on the last stage of Chapel as an attacker. If they’re all near the rock you can easily team wipe them.

Pro tip- Click on ledges and overhangs of walls to call them in behind enemies.

Also, don’t be afraid to experiment! I’ve found a ton of laser spots on maps by clicking around walls.

Don’t hold the laser out, Q a location and the laser will go there (try to keep your targets inside the map as some things that are in the background don’t actually “exist” so it won’t register). Spam on odd places so your path is erratic and people will find it hard to dodge or predict your path of bwaaaaaaaa. Double back and do all sort of things, and don’t forget that if you’re tapping the laser properly, you can shoot with your gun in between targets.

You can also walk your laser, but that technique is less effective IMO though it is more viable now than it used to be because the laser responds at the same speed regardless of distance now so you can’t make it zoom across rooms by designating across the map anymore (which makes me a sad sad panda).

Walking the laser is fun, especially if you’re behind the enemy going for a team clean.
