Has Jackal won Dome in Objective?

(Grave_Knight) #1

Every time I’ve played Dome so far CDA has won. Every time. I don’t know if it’s just people don’t know the map well enough but it feels like CDA never has to leave the first objective zone.

Won it just a few minutes ago. Feels good, finally seeing that airship fly away.

But the first stage is absurdly defender biased.

IKR. I’m also wondering why there are so many jumps that don’t really lead anywhere you can’t get to faster on foot (namely the long jump, wall jump, land on the pipes).

The map is really awsome … BUT: first OBJ seems way too hard to attack. the next stages are so nice but most of the time the timer runs out on the first one.
yes i seen attackers win and won it myself but in my opinion the map was even better when there was no 1st OBJ.
Time ( and Echo )will tell, if they will need to ease the first stage to spread the fight more over the whole map.

I got lost on that map so many times because I’m retarded. If I’m the Jackels, they’re pretty boned.

I thought this will be my favourite map; HATE IT.

Gonna stick with Execution.

You don’t have to worry too much on Obj/Stopwatch. Seems most people will vote for other maps.

In fact, i think dome’s map is so huge and difficult.
long distance fight and is common than close fight. And hard to penetration to Jackal.
I think we need more way to rush.

I think the issue is: the map is very different. A change of pace. Very open, not a meat grinder like all others. Burst rifles and long range weapons in general become much better. Open spaces, lots of killzones. Dust off Sparks and Sawbonez - they can heal and revive from afar.

I think a different strategy and some coordination are needed to attack the first objective well. Note that once you blow up two gates, attackers have access to two MGs and can set up nasty crossfire. Pincer attacks are what’s needed. Instead of blindly rushing forward like on all other maps, it can be better to hold ground and control an area from one side until the fireteam from the other breaks through. Start the proper assault once you see teammates on the opposite side.

And it’s just plain easy to get lost on these new maps. They feel as if they were made by completely different people.

Good news:
in the other forum a DEV told me that they will be looking into the balance stats of the first OBJ next week to see what needs to be changed.

@ Jazevec: basicly right, but strategy and coordinated attacks doesn´t solve the problem that the first obj compaired to the other two and considering the size of the whole map is way too hard. besides a good coordinated Defense makes this argument invalid.

Most of the time ( i would guess 85%) the game gets stuck at 1.Obj
Sometimes you manage to get it but time runs out for the other two obj.
Or the def team ist so much weaker that attackers just rush through the whole map anyway.
-> no balance between Size of map <-> effort it takes for the first obj.

This map is so freaking huge and so defender biased on first that I can’t even judge it. I keep getting away from the action because there’s just so much ground to cover and no way to easily figure out what leads where. Some signage or better visual design to help guide us around the map would be nice.

(jazevec) #12

Coordinated defense only gives you so much if you’re on a disadvantaged position. Players defending one gate come under fire as soon as the gate on the opposite side opens! Not even a Vasili, but just Kira, Arty, or even a Fragger with BR-16. Defenders can look only in one direction. Attackers can have all defeders in front of them, no need to spin around.

We were playing competitive and we won, as a JACKAL. It’s just that map is really big and confusing, it’s going to take a lot of matches to remember it correctly.

(KattiValk) #14

The map is so spacious. I love the openness but dislike it at the same time.

If you’re having issues pushing the first point then I’d suggest stacking the hell out of right side. I find it works better than long.

(neg0ne) #15

no questio that 1st OBJ is possible.
my point is, that it is too hard considering the size of the whole map.
too much time gets eaten up here and too often the game gets stuck here.

(retief) #16

I haven’t played it a ton, but I joined in one game as jackal set a ~5 minute time in stopwatch. Unsurprisingly, when sides switched, the new jackal players got nowhere.

In pubs the tactic for the first one is pretty straightforward, let some1 take objective, let them get stuck in a fight with people and the objective be returned then take it and wrap around the other half of the map to deliver.
Usually people go back to where they died and if they continue fighting you can just sneak in the objective. Killing one or two folks on the way might be necessary.

This map is extremely large. Even 16 players are not enough. The fact that this game is not Battlefield and its just 8v8. It should be slightly smaller although it looks gorgeous.

What I observe is that when attacking the first objective to plant 2 power cells or whatever that is is really difficult. Especially when having players, who don’t care about objectives. Once this is successful however, it becomes very rough for the defenders in the following 2 stages. That is really because of the size of the area, which the attackers can use and the defenders have to cover.
