Has anyone considered making a ctf mod for et?

I would certainly support such a mod by making custom sounds for it and even making a map for it.

a few idea’s for such a mod would be the ability to disable the standard sounds associated with taking a ctf item, so that custom sounds could be played instead such as “axis have stolen the flag” and so on.

also some ctf only powerup’s q3 style, but ala’ et of course, such as

Adrenaline - when picked up plays “Adrenaline” custom sound and stays in effect for the standard time or 30 seconds…

Disguise - same as above, since there is no invisibility in et ( which is a good thing ), but figuring out how to attach an enemy players name to such a thing ( since it came from a powerup and not an actual enemy’s dead body ) would be tricky…

and so on…

it doesnt fall under the class of ‘realism’ but then ctf is not, with jumppad’s and teleporters. i would be more than willing to do custom models for the powerups, pulsating heart with a lightning bolt through it for the adrenaline to give an example.

i’m in the process of porting over an old q3 ctf map that i never finished, so that’s what gave me the idea.

it’s just a thought… what do you all think?

So do you want it with all the original gametypes + ctf or just ctf?

i would think it would support all the regular gametypes, basicly… it would just add a few new entity’s for ctf plus alter some existing ones, but not to the point where an original map or addon maps made now would be effected.

if someone wanted to make a ctf map, they would just add the new entitys for it.

hmmmmzz… a proper scroring system would be good also… something displayed on the screen to show what team has how many caps…

right now, i have a row of 8 blue dolphins and 8 red ones at either end of each teams spawn, when a team caps, a dolphin turns down to the ground. got the idea from the movie ‘ben hur’ during the chariot race, they had a row of wooden seahorses, when a lap was completed, they turned one down.

but i would think, it would be just some new entity’s people would use if they made a ctf. a regular map should have no problem running on a mod like that.

ctf has been done within the first 2 months of et… silicon slick did it… he had all the stock maps with flags at certain locations and bright neon red and blue for the teams… the server running it stayed empty and eventually it was taken down

my suggestion is to talk to him

well, maybe some new maps made with ctf in mind would be the difference.

Red UK is working on six map CTF campaign. I think he is upto map five or six. Can’t remember becasue I’ve been stuck in a hole finishing up some dam Uni stuff and then a three hour exam on Monday night (No ET then :slight_smile: )

A week or two is cool. I have a job for Red UK and then I’m also doing some stuff for the AI Mod (not BOBOTs) as well

I’ve been thinking about to add ctf to my powerball mod for quite some time now. The maps for both gametypes are more or less the same, just need to switch some entities depending on gametype and that’s it. Easily done with scripts.

I would be very interested in doing this, especially if there’s an interest and support of it.

He Lanz, I did think about whether this could be applied to Powerball since there are a lot of simillarities between the two.

(Why am I still on the forums when I’m suppose to be studying for an exam. Ah, I remember. I hate Uni and studying. University of South Australia is Lame. It’s run by a bunch of Micky Mouse idiots :smiley: )

like i mentioned earlier, a good way to show each teams caps on screen as opposed to the way i have to do it now…
here is an example of how i score it now… in this pic allies lead… 3 flags capped

but it would be better in a mod… don’t have to resort to this type of scoring system…
