hand holding weapon - problem...

[i]Hi!
I changed v_thompson_barrel3.mdc to v_thompson_barrel3.md3, then i changed mdc to md3 in “weapons/thompson.weap” but now i can’t see the weapon and the arm in the game. Why? something missing?

you must change name more (eg. v_otherthomson_barrel3.md3) because engine always read mdc first ( yes u can also export it as mdc )

Ummm…if there’s nothing being displayed it has no problem accessing the file. There’s probably something wrong with the model…

The model is the same, i didn’t changed nothing, only changed .mdc to .md3 then i changed “weapons/thompson.weap” to link to .md3 and now the hand doesn’t appear in the game… WHYYYYY!!! =(

Well the MDC format is different from the MD3 format. You should change it back or import the MDC in a 3d modelling program then export it as MD3.

MNunes7 , simple model how it goes : 1) data pak0.pk3 f rom ET main (loaded MDC model), data from your pk3 (MD3 is not loaded if engine founds MDC , here should be MD3 , or you should change name )
solution : instead of changing .mdc to md3 in “weapons/thompson.weap” , you should change whole filename ( if it is v_thompson.mdc you should change “v_thompson” as well)
example : want to change thompson model to m16 for example : in “weapons/thompson.weap” you will change first person model from v_thompson.mdc to v_m16.md3 , changing to v_thomson.md3 will NOT work)

Speaking of mdc, does anyone know if there’s an mdc importer available for 3ds max 5?

I know there’s a script around that works in gmax and 3ds max 4, but I can’t find one for version 5.

MilkShape3D imports mdc, now is it possible to export mdc??

You don’t need the mdc.
You can also use md3.

Ummm…if nothing was being displayed it was finding and using the MD3.
And as I’ve said many times before, the extension in thompson.weap does not matter. The engine loads everything it finds that it’s looking for. So if it finds v_thompson.mdc then it finds v_thompson.md3 it would use the MD3 since it was last v_thompson it found.
