Why do we have to wait 2 ammo resupplies from an ammo box until we can reload a full mag?
Why not the same rate but a full mag?
fukin questions all the time…

Because otherwise ammo stations wouldn’t have an advantage over ammo boxes I guess.

well, it’s the ammo guys duty to deliver ammo. shouldn’t be a problem of those who shoot much.
also, you could just have a limited deliveries per minute per ammo box. so it is kinda empty at one point and doesnt refill that fast.
It encourages teamwork more by giving actual ammo mercs the better option 100% of the time instead of standing next to ammo crates.

Yep. Ammo crates are designed to be a last resort when your team can’t deliver ammo for whatever reason, they’re not supposed to be something you rely off of.

Tell that to the K63 Fragger solo holding South Underground, first obj. That ammo crate is enough to take on two Jackal spawn waves, and then some. I was playing Skyhaggis, and the Fragger explicitly told me in chat to help the others.

I’ve never used it, lol. I figure if I did half of those drops would be going to the enemy team

Which is like half a mag… unless you are using the MK46 it might as well be nothing. (extra medpacks are gr8 tho)

I usually don’t go to the ammo box when I am out of ammo. I just touch it when I am around to get some ammo, especially if there is an arty/sky/stoker who only use their ability at the spawn…
you could limit that by programming a “stock of ammo” into every ammo box which replenishes at a set rate e.g. 6 mags per minute. you could even change the rate when advancing in the map, so it would be even less encouraging to walk all the way back to an ammo box (this is stupid, but it exists).
Feel like there is nothing wrong with ammo boxes, and they don’t need to change at all.
Ammo boxes are an ‘Oops your team sucks and no one is providing ammo’ option. That’s why they’re slow and placed inconveniently.
I dunno how long you’ve been playing this but about 18 months ago, maybe a little more, there were twice as many ammo boxes on the map and it really made ammo-tossing pointless. They were placed around nicely and were pretty convenient.
Somewhere along the line the number of ammo boxes were cut in half, and then later they were moved to awkward, out-of-the-way places.
As a vet of this game, trust me, the way it is now is better. Especially from a teamwork perspective.
ammo from boxes comes in clips which you then load into magazines, ammo tossed to you comes in loaded magazines

I like the placement and the amount of them and would not want to fuss with that. It just feels weird to stand at a ammo box for two resupplies to reload if you have less than half a mag left. It totally agree that it should not be used for resupplying up completely, especially if an arty/sky can do that much quicker. But changing it to a full mag would make the gameplay a little faster. players can get quicker back to their defense or join back the attack, rather than standing twice as long for the same amount of ammo.
Don’t get me wrong, I just would want to make them give a whole mag instead of half. One could make them even slower if needed. They should still be inferior to ammo classes and ammo stations.

It’s supposed to be slow. If you got a full mag, then it should take twice as long to get a second mag. They’re trying to actively deter you from using the ammo boxes.
Personally I reload that half mag if I need it, then reload again when I get the other half… assuming I was even that low to begin with. At least I have half a mag to deal with someone if they show up at that very moment.
If you want it to give a full mag but take longer between mags, just don’t reload until you’ve received ammo twice from it… its the same thing.
But seriously, this topic is rather nonsensical.

By gameplay I don’t mean the time it takes to get a full mag.
Imagine this: you are defending and hold an attack but there is one guy you could push and give full spawn, which is a great advantage to your team in the upcoming next attack. You decide to push the guy and have 10 bullets left. you decide to pass by the ammo box to get some ammo, since the next attack is already on the way.
Case “old, half a mag per 2s”: you go to the box, you stay there for 4 seconds to get a full mag.
Case “new, full mag per 4s”: you go to the box and you just touch it, then connect back to your team.
thats what i mean by faster gameplay.
Like that:

You are right! Half mags are just a senseless thing

Yes that’s exactly what they don’t want ammo boxes to be. They want you to sit and wait and fall behind from the rest of your team, because the better option is Case “have an ammo supplier on your team”: Continue running with the team and get a full bag of ammo on the move.
Ammo boxes aren’t there for convenience or to maintain game flow. They’re there to make it so that you’re never out of ammo at the cost of being very slow, very inconvenient, and to break up your team.
