gui costumization

morning.

yea, times getting closer and closer… im getting interested in some specific things. one is the gui (graphical user interface) or the hud, if your more familiar with that.

when i first heard about brink i instantly compared it to world of warcraft. i was pretty happy actually that the aspects i love about wow got implemented in a genre i love. there is character costumization, there is weapon costumization and there is costumization on your skills. very RPG’ish.

one of the thing that made wow stand out from other mmo’s for me was the massive amount of ui costumization. there is actually a huge scene “programming” interface addons.

so, i was wondering if we see some ui costumization in brink, too. i know, with enough knowledge, you can manipulate the “gui” files in idtech4. theres even an editor for the gui. all the programming is done in .txt format, i think.

i hope that will be possible. if not at release, maybe later with a patch?! im more the minimalistic person and would like to disable stuff that i dont need, or generelly alter it so i can actually see more of the enviroment than popping numbers and frames.

(i disabled the gui completely in crysis2 once, just for fun, and it was a totally different experience. you concentrate more on enviroment and enjoy the graphics more. made it harder to play though cause you didnt see the hit indicator.)

Nothing is known about this. But you´re right, it should be easy to modify these files, if they are not protect. Had a lot of fun with this at Quake4 and Doom3
