GTKRadiant L Freezing

(nevloow) #1

Hi,
I have made a one room map (as a try out because it is my first time mapping) with no leaks. when i start ET i enter g_gametype 2 and sv_pure 0 into the console. then i put /devmap (map name) into the console. the map runs and i can move around in the spec mode. but whenever i press L the game freezes and i have to end it. please can anyone help me?

also i use GTKRadiant 1.4.0

Set the mapcoords or better, update to ET 2.60b

after you have loaded the map then open options(esc) and then press view and then tick this:
draw compass : no

nah you need to generate the tracemap before you can enter a map in that way.

means you must set your min and maxcoordinates in worldspawn entity
and after that if you load your map the 1st time you have to type
/generatetracemap

after this you re able to play your map (dunno if you have to reload it again)

but if you do that not - et freezes…

p.s. found some old pix i did long time ago -maybe that helps:

then compile

hope everything is clear now

thanks. doing the tracemap thing sorted it out.

Ehr… Tracemaps are not necessary if you have no skybox, and as such will not crash your game. If your map is indoors, you don’t even need to package it with your map.

  1. script_multiplayer, info_player_deathmatch, team_WOLF_objective, team_CTF_bluespawn, team_CTF_redspawn
  2. mapcoords
  3. sv_pure 0, g_gametype 2
  4. closed map (without leak).

that’s all.

I only need an info_player_deathmatch and a hollow box to run a map. Perhaps my ET (2.60b) is better than yours? :stroggbanana:

mine crashes always if i don t do a tracemap - so i know this problem

(IndyJones) #11

but if you want to open limbo - you need to have rest of entities too, right?

(-SSF-Sage) #12

No. The maps work totally without it. I usually don’t even have any other of those entities you listed before mid stage, unless I want to do some scripting before it of course.

(nevloow) #13

well, i think i did the mapcoords wrong but the tracemap did sort it out i think. anyway i have another problem with models now. if you have any idea about that please can you post it there. thanks
